Faeluneth Larethil

Loremaster (a.k.a. Loremaster of the Moon-Sealed Path)

The Elder Voice of Oakvein

At 713 years of age, Faeluneth is the most ancient and venerated of the Loremasters of Clan Enlanefel. A wood elf whose silver-white hair flows like moonlight through a canopy of memory, she stands as a living vessel of Sehanine Moonbow’s mysteries and a silent sentinel over the arcane and divine legacies of her people. Her gaze, heavy with starlight, is known to unnerve even elder treants—and when she speaks, the forest listens.

“The stars speak not in words, but in silence and shimmer. To hear them, you must first forget the noise of the world.”
— Faeluneth, during the Eclipse of the Third Moon, 564 CY

Role and Responsibilities in Oakvein

As the eldest of the Six Loremasters of Oakvein, Faeluneth holds no political ambition but commands universal respect among the elves of Enlanefel. She is the voice of prophecy, the arbiter of spiritual matters, and often the final word on elven arcana and bloodline magic.

  • Position: Senior Loremaster of Clan Enlanefel
  • Domain: Spiritual guidance, divination, theological jurisprudence
  • Seat of Power: The Starbough Sanctum, a crystalline chamber grown from living oak near the peak of Oakvein
  • Clerical Duties: Oversees moonlit rites, initiations, funerals, and transcendence rituals in Sehanine’s name

Background: The Moonarch Pilgrim

Faeluneth’s transformation began centuries ago when she passed through the Moonarch of Sehanine, a rare and sacred portal to Arborea. She returned changed—blessed with True Sight and visions that have guided her clan through calamity and joy alike. Her journey was not only spiritual but metaphysical; many say she returned partially transcended.

  • Origin: Born in a glade near the Welkwood border, third daughter of the Larethil bloodline
  • Moonarch Vision: Her True Sight allows her to see illusions, lies, curses, and the taint of undeath
  • Gifts of Sehanine: Enhanced foresight, immunity to charm, dreamwalk magic, and divine guidance

Personality and Demeanor

Faeluneth is serene, slow to anger, and immensely patient. She speaks in layered metaphors and is rarely direct, preferring the rhythm of riddles and moonlit allegories. To strangers, she may seem distant, but among her kin, her warmth is like a hearth’s flame—quiet, consistent, and ancient.

  • Disposition: Mysterious, composed, profoundly spiritual
  • Communication Style: Cryptic, poetic, rich in celestial metaphors
  • Notable Trait: When she dreams, the leaves around her chamber often shimmer silver with moonlight

Magic and Specialization

Faeluneth is one of the finest diviners and clerical theorists in all of Celene. Her understanding of the latent magical potential in bloodlines—especially those tied to faerie, dragon, elemental, or celestial ancestry—is without rival. She often trains younger sorcerers and clerics in the identification and unlocking of these innate gifts.

  • Divine Focus: Sehanine’s Mysteries, Dream Magic, Death Rites, True Sight
  • Arcane Specialty: Bloodline detection, illusion unraveling, and lunar enchantments
  • Unique Abilities:
  • Prophetic Visions – Monthly foresight rituals tied to moon phases
  • Bloodline Reading – Can trace magical heritage through dreams or skin contact
  • Dream Gate – Uses dreamscapes to commune across long distances

Political Influence and Alliances

Though Faeluneth abstains from mortal politics, her opinions shape the will of Enlanefel’s Council and influence emissaries from Celene, the Druids of the Gnarley, and even the Gnarley Rangers, who, though cautious of elves, revere her as a prophetic guardian of the forest’s heart.

Family and Lineage

Faeluneth is the last living child of the ancient Larethil bloodline, a family known for dream seers and elemental-blooded kin. Her daughter, Syllirae of the Sable Veil, vanished into the Dreaming Wood three centuries ago and is believed to walk the border of Arvanaith and Oerth. Faeluneth rarely speaks of her.

  • Lineage: House Larethil, of twilight glades in southern Celene
  • Children: Syllirae (missing, presumed transcended or lost in dream)
  • Fey Kin: Distant relations among the Courts of the Twinkling Mists

Relationships and Council Dynamics

As one of the Six Loremasters of Oakvein , Naerion plays a pivotal role in the arcane and diplomatic life of Clan Enlanefel. Though he is deeply immersed in magical theory and the crafting of artefacts, he remains enmeshed in the intellectual and spiritual discourse that defines the ruling council.

Faeluneth LarethilMoon-Cloaked Seer and Soul-Mirror

Naerion holds Faeluneth in profound respect, seeing her as the soul of the clan. Her gift of prophecy and communion with Sehanine complements his logic and craft. Their debates are legendary—Faeluneth speaks in riddles; Naerion, in equations. Despite their differences, she often tempers his more ambitious magical projects with spiritual caution.

  • Relationship: Mutual respect; collaboration on relic sanctification
  • Tension: Faith versus function—he values material legacy, she values vision

SynrielVoice of the Deep Earth

Synriel and Naerion have an ongoing philosophical conflict: she values the wild and primal, he the precise and enchanted. Still, they recognize one another’s mastery, and Synriel often consults him when ancient artefacts or elemental anomalies appear. Their friction occasionally flares, especially when Naerion’s arcane constructs disrupt natural flows.

  • Relationship: Respectful rivals
  • Tension: Nature vs. constructed magic; spontaneity vs. structure
  • Alignment: Both oppose elemental corruption and the despoilers of old places

NemoiDreamwalker of the Aetherlight Spire

Of all the Loremasters, Nemoi is the closest to Naerion in arcane curiosity. The two share a love for planar theory and the abstract, though Naerion often finds Nemoi’s oneiric metaphors frustrating. Still, they frequently trade notes—Naerion’s enchantments grounded in Nemoi’s planar models, and vice versa.

  • Relationship: Arcane confidants
  • Tension: Naerion is empirical; Nemoi, symbolic
  • Shared Projects: Planar tether rituals, fey-crafted magical anchors

LianMemory’s Gatekeeper

Naerion and Lian often clash over legacy. Where Naerion seeks to advance elven magic, Lian strives to preserve it. Their tension lies in how magic should evolve: Lian warns against repeating the arrogance of fallen elven empires, while Naerion believes that caution breeds stagnation. Yet, they often consult each other when artefacts from the First Age resurface.

  • Relationship: Philosophical opposites; mutually reliant
  • Shared Values: Magic as sacred, history as foundation
  • Occasional Conflict: Lian distrusts Naerion’s fascination with “tainted” artefacts

AvinorThe Chronicler of Collapse

Naerion respects Avinor’s knowledge of historical catastrophe and lost wars, but their views on artefacts could not be more different. Where Naerion sees an object’s potential, Avinor sees a buried danger. They frequently consult together to evaluate magical relics—Avinor looking for spiritual or historical danger, Naerion for arcane functionality.

  • Relationship: Careful collaboration
  • Shared Projects: Identification of Suel and Ur-Flannae relics
  • Divergence: Avinor seeks containment; Naerion, reactivation and reinterpretation

Oakvein Council Commentary

“Naerion reminds us that magic is a living language. Without his craft, we would lose the ability to speak to the stars—but without those who guard the soul behind the spell, we risk hearing only our own hubris echoing back.”
— Faeluneth, during the Convocation of Wandersong, 570 CY

Current Concerns (576 CY)

Faeluneth has foreseen a shadowed flame moving northward—likely tied to the recent rise in humanoids and bandits in the Wild Verge, disturbing Enlanefel lands. Though she does not yet know of the Second Temple of Elemental Evil, her visions grow more disturbed with each moonrise.

  • Visionary Disturbances: Moonlight rituals increasingly bring forth fractured imagery and signs of elemental distortion
  • Divination Focus: Seeking omens in the movements of the stars above Oakvein
  • Disposition toward Outsiders: Increasingly cautious, with prophetic warnings of betrayal cloaked in friendship
