Despite the possibility of war, the mercenary goblin army, and the starved illithid horde nearby; the city seemed peaceful. Cyl asked Wit and Allure if they would prefer to re-experience the psychic link or not. They both politely declined. Nathan worked on his family’s business throughout the morning. GB spent the morning finishing scribing a new spell into his spellbook with Finkoo. Oisin took his kitty-kid, Glitter, to Mo to get his new pants tailored. Connor practiced stealth by hiding and Primeheart tried to find him.
Beer Forge
The party debated what to do that day. Options included: speaking with Zeknar Feddles and speaking with Jastra. They decided to speak with Zeknar first. Depending on how things went, they would go see Jastra afterwards.
The Skyroot Forest
The party trekked through the forest, seeing the occasional illithid hunting for food. They arrived at Zeknar’s place without issue.
Primeheart and Nathan knocked on the door to Zeknar’s cottage. The rest of the party hung back, Connor and Cyl climbing a tree. Zeknar’s cottage was sparsely adorned: whiskey, a table, a chair, a fireplace, a bed, a mantle-mounted rifle.
Cyl and Connor made it to the top of their second tree, trying to get a view of the conversation. Primeheart and Nathan were sitting on tree stumps, talking to a hag disguised as Zeknar. Just then, Nathan realized that Zeknar Feddles had just lied to them about not knowing anything. The illusion, that had fooled them into thinking this was Zeknar’s cabin, dropped and the hag attacked. Purrl sat on Glitter throughout the fight to protect him.
The hag quickly downed Nathan and began trying to rip his face off. The party then saw that her back was covered in people’s faces. The hag tried to Misty Step away but GB prevented it. The hag threw down a green vial. The vial cracked open the ground underneath her and a spiny, scaley, hydra crawled out of the hole. Meanwhile, the Hag succeeded in running away. The hydra regenerated two heads for every head the group lopped off, but any ice attacks seemed to stop that from happening.
Primeheart was silenced by fae ice at the beginning of the fight, dropping the party’s healing to zero. This effect was somehow physical and not something GB could dispel. Cyl lost animation, but she stayed standing. The stupid Hydra didn’t realize what had happened and kept attacking.
In his last, desperate attempt to get to her to heal her, Primeheart tore the ice out of his mouth by force, heroically getting his spell off to bring Cyl back. Connor’s ice magic and blades eventually felled the beast. The party chose to head back to Cinderhaven.
Beer Forge
As the party relaxed after the fight, Glitter revealed that he had wild magic in his blood, innately disguising himself as GB. Then Glitter suffered a wild surge that made his fur fall out.
