Krev Clairvont
Description
Krev is tall for a necrite, but very narrow. This makes his head look even more disproportionately large than on other necrites. Remarkably, he has no scars whatsoever - a trait almost unheard of on a necrite of his age. He wears durable travel clothes, and always carries a notebook with him. It's evident that many thoughts swirl around in his mind.
History
Zer Clairvont, a luni warmage, found Krev's egg in the ruins of a hamlet during the Tunnel War. Instead of crushing it, he took the egg back to Cor Quae’thum and raised Krev there.
Krev had a very different childhood than other necrites. His childhood was not filled with playful battles with his pears, helping out on a farm, or felling trees, but with the study of tomes and scriptures. When he finished his basic education at a daycare school in Cor Quae’thumhe enrolled in the university proper.
While studying, he heard stories of the Detrinian Empire - the land of his ancestors. Things were bad there, while he lived a life of relative luxury. It would be very understandable if the next generation of necrites - his generation - would grow angry, start a new war, and cause even more death.
And Krev realized that he would never fit in at Cor Quae'thum. luni live far longer than necrites. He could study his entire life, and he still wouldn't be able to achieve much there. So, he prioritized studies of agriculture and city-planning, while still improving his magical capabilities as well, to do what mere physical skill couldn’t..
Krev eventually wished goodbye to Zer, left Cor Quae’thum and moved to Detrin to put his studies to practice. He moved to the south, where most of the settlements were new - those would be more open to his ideas. He turned the village of Anchorhill from a collection of shacks into a well-planned city where natural sciences are applied everywhere.
It's no surprise that by solving the problems of the people of Anchorhill, Krev earned their respect and attention. Now he hopes to improve Detrin culturally as well. In particular, he feels that the duels are archaic. They should be more than just combat: for example, a duel for the ownership of a forge should be decided on the duelists' smithing skills, not their fighting ability. He feels that the Detrinians should look to the future, not wallow in the past.
Present
Currently, Krev lives in the Twinned Tower - a lighthouse on the surface, and a tower underground. There he teaches the locals, and also conducts research with select confidants. But now he is facing a new problem: no matter how much he practices, he will always be behind other necrites who have practiced fighting since they were children. In particular, the necrites in power will not want to give up their position. How could he make all of Detrinian Empire realize that the quill is mightier than the sword?
