Anchorhill

The city of Anchorhill rises at the southern shore of Salt Coast. The city is named after the hill at the center of the city, which is shaped like an anchor. It also serves as a reminder of the city’s port, where many ships float anchored.

Everything in Anchorhill is brand-new, no building is older than 30 years. The area always had various hunters, fishers and hermits for ages, but the refugees from Sweetwood built a ramshackle village around the hill, and filled the site with farms, with varying levels of success. The fledgling town might have been abandoned had Krev Clairvont not moved there.

While most of the inhabitants of Anchorhill were fleeing farmers and soldiers, Krev was a scholar and a wizard, trained in Cor Quae'thum. He carried with him lessons and tomes on agriculture, engineering and architecture. As soon as he arrived, he began to put everything he had learned into practice.

Nowadays, Anchorhill is the most advanced settlement in the Detrinian Empire. While no match for Throne of Power or Fort Saltguard in size, every house in Anchorhill is well insulated, the sewers keep the city clean and the irrigation system makes the poor land almost as productive as the lands of Sweetwood. The practices of the city have even migrated to nearby settlements.

The city’s greatest landmark is the Twinned Tower, where Krev lives. The above-ground section of the tower is a lighthouse, guiding ships to the city's port, but the parts underground are arguably even more important. There is the city's school, where necrites are taught how to maintain the city, and research halls, where people can practice magic or engineering without harming others.
