Silent Peaks
Getting their name from the deafening silence that seems to blanket the region. The snow and forests at the bottom of the mountains absorb the sound.
Geography
The peaks consist of two tall mountain ranges permanently capped with ice. A long gulf seperates the eastern and western sections. Large cave systems wind through the mountains created by Ignisore or natural means. The top of the eastern range has an active volcano that's still slowly growing. Warmth radiating from the ground there supports a small variety of creatures.
Ecosystem
Harsh cold winds blow across the peaks becoming worse towards the most northern parts of the range. There is usually a heavy overcast covering up the sun. In the winter the clouds provide heavy snowfall that's exceptionally deep making the area difficult to traverse and prone to avalanches. These trying conditions make it so individuals won't don't dare to venture any farther than the source of the lake.
Fauna & Flora
Towering dense pine forests blot out what little light there is adding to the types of habitat Fthorskotos prefer. The dangerous reputation of the region is increased due to frequent encounters with them.
Near the volcano a small colony of ignisore reside near hot springs. Their coloring unusually dull, this is attributed to the lack of sunlight but never proven.
The south western part of the range has Creaviae. Interestingly those who live there all have the same shape brand in the middle of the back. They're also among the few groups with long thick coats year round.
Natural Resources
The local creaviae have a booming logging industry harvesting select pine and hardwoods. Woodworking there is a profitable profession especially with the first choice picks of the lumber.
