Canyon's Curse
Summary
During Scarlet Sandstorm in Woestijn the Archmages leading either side began a one-on-one fight using powerful spells.
Out numbered Canyon Town was finally forced to retreat, but not before cursing their enemies. Afterwards sand began to fill the streets of Delta Edge the wind powered by the opposing archmage.
Historical Basis
The bloody confict did occur along with a fight between two Archmages. It is unclear if there was a winner, however it is assumed Delta Edge claimed it as it's still standing.
Spread
A common legend in Woestijn used as an explanation for the misfortunes of Delta Edge. It also fuels the rumors of The Vault in the lost town. Individuals looking for riches spreading the tale across Corone while traveling to their destination.
Variations & Mutation
The violent conflict between Canyon Town and Delta Edge has angered the desert. Spirits of those who have fallen wish to see the end of both settlements. Moving to their will, the dunes slowly consume anything in their path.
Another version has Wind wanting to bury the past as the reasoning behind the dune's movements.
In Art
A painting in one of the old government buildings in Delta Edge has an image of the battle. The little information that exists on it implies that it was done by a survivor of the conflict.
