Arion
General Sorin Arion (a.k.a. Arion)
Arion is one of the "First Circle", which refers to Dracula and the four of his most trusted generals who he originally turned along with himself in the dark rites that created the first European vampires. Arion was the most volatile of the group, and was exiled for his risky experiments with Daywalking. Dracula felt that Arion was attempting to usurp his position as the leader of the vampires, and when he could not control him, rejected him. Since then, Arion has been a dangerous rogue, obeying nothing but his own insatiable curiosity, and his thirst for power and blood.
Physical Description
Special abilities
As one of the original vampires, Arion's strength and speed are unmatched by any but another member of the First Circle. He also possesses the ability to immediately heal himself of any wound not caused by silver or a stake as long as he drinks fresh human blood, and like other vampires he has excellent night vision and ultrasonic hearing.
As a Daywalker, Arion is able to leave his lair in broad daylight, unaffected by the ultraviolet rays from sunlight.
Apparel & Accessories
Arion tends to dress flamboyantly, often wearing a long, dark coat and black gloves as part of his attire.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Arion was a powerful general in Dracula's army. He was chosen by Dracula to participate in his dark magic experiments that were intended to transfer the power of the fae to humans. While the rites partially succeeded, they transformed Dracula and his fellow participants into what would come to be known as vampires.
The fae from which Arion drew his power was a fire/energy affinity, and Arion was thus drawn to the power of light. He spent decades studying the transformation he had undergone, attempting to learn how to complete the process and become as safe in the daylight as the fae themselves.
After the first defeat of the vampires by the combined forces of the humans and fae, Arion withdrew to his castle in the Transylvanian mountains to continue his studies.
Education
Arion was a man of war and not of letters when he was human, but in the centuries he has been alive, he has taken the opportunity to study and familiarize himself with many branches of human science, psychology, and philosophy.
Intellectual Characteristics
Arion is cunning and patient. He knows how to take advantage of human assumptions of vampires, and he is willing to wait years or even decades to enact his plans.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Arion lives by basically Epicurean principles, pursuing pleasure as the highest good in life. He watched Dracula and two of his followers attempt to rule the world, without success. He prefers to enjoy his eternal un-life without the complications of ruling masses. His one sought-after goal is to be able to once again walk in the sunlight, and for this reason he has dedicated himself to learning what creates Daywalkers, vampires impervious to the ultraviolet rays.
Personality Quirks
Unlike most of his fellow vampires, Arion is drawn to light.
Social
Hobbies & Pets
While he would not consider them pets, Arion has raised and trained a flock of ravens, who are partly under his control. He uses them as spies, thieves, and to attack in defense.
