Staveholm Tower

Isolated at the northern end of a remote valley in the east of The Drakeseat Mountains, close to the village of Smallfell, lies Staveholm Tower; home to the mysterious arcane order known as The Members Of The Staff.   Constructed by the order as their own purpose-built secluded compound, the tower has been in place for the past few centuries. Members of the order themselves are never seen by the outside world, but visitors will be met by the household staff of the order, who maintain the property, keeping it pristine. These household servants will also travel to Smallfell on occasion to trade for goods.

Purpose / Function

The tower was constructed with the purpose of providing a dedicated, and isolated location for The Members Of The Staff to conduct research on the ancient arcane artefact which they have all pledged to unlock the secrets of, without the distractions of the outside world. As such, the tower was constructed far from any large centres of civilisation, and indeed does not even have a road passing particularly close by.

Architecture

The central tower stands about 120ft, or thirty-six metres in height, and is constructed of stone, hewn from the nearby Drakeseat Mountains. The upper floor, home to the council chamber of The Members Of The Staff, is also the storage area for the ancient staff for which the order is named, and was founded to study. This upper chamber was constructed with ornate arcane locks, so that it can be sealed for private conclaves and research sessions, without any interference from outside distractions.   Surrounding the central tower is a ring of out-buildings which house the household staff, storage areas, kitchens, and all manner of things needed to make the tower as self-sufficient as possible; all in the name of isolating themselves from the outside world. With this in mind, the household staff have surrounded this ring with a variety of animal pens, gardens and small plots of crop-growing land. These outbuildings are constructed of a mixture of mountain stone and wood from the trees of the valley in which it is located.
