Goratha's Spire
The Spire of Goratha is an ancient building in the The Issar Mountains, now located within Verdorn but predating the city by many centuries. It is thought that the north and south tunnels which now provide the only viable routes into the city were originally dug by the dwarves of the mountains in order to reach the Spire.
The Spire is essentially a large and extremely sacred fighting pit. Given that The worship of Goratha is centred around honourable combat between warriors, this is not as contradictory as it first appears. Victory in the fighting pit of the Spire is a mark of extreme pride to those who have achieved it, and the rune placed upon his or her weapon by the priest of the Spire points them out as a great warrior to other worshippers.
