What's in a name
While for the polite conversation, the first name or the correct title is speaking to a better is perfectly acceptable, balls in Rivell are full of pomp and ceremony. The biggest being your announcement were, unlike other culture, the announcer will go through every title, nickname and name you have in an appropriate order. People will go to great lengths, including making a group of super powerful beings extremely uncomfortable, to get this information.
The order
The most important part of this is the order in which things are said, this would go in the following order. We will use Queen Eva of The White City as an example, despite not being Rivellian she has almost every aspect in her full announcement. Her full announcement at the Year beginning celebration at Tourlu castle in 123 Fey wasQueen Evangelina 'Eva the eternal' Karase Valbanise of the white city, Heiress to the house of Lagrigoyi, The Dragon Sorcerous, light of the west
Main title part 1
This is the title part main title of the person. While it is most commonly the one they use it can be a more powerful title if deemed the difference is important. An example of the would be King Stephan who around the 123 ball used prince of Rivell as his main title, only using King when needed but at the ball was referred to first as King of Basq and Prince of Rivell second. In our example this would be Queen.First name
While self explanatory though it should be noted it is the fully first name rather then a preferred name. For our example this is Evangelina instead of her preferred Eva.Nicknames
This is were the announcer will usually put preferred names as well as the main nicknames of the person in question, normally the followed by a single word. It should be noted it is the main nickname used in Rivell. In our example Eva is the preferred name while the Eternal is her main nickname in reference to the fact that she's older then the era of ages yet looks eighteen.Rest of the name
Once again self explanatory, it is the remainder of the name for our example that's 'Karase' for a middle name though if she had more all would be listed, though their can be multiple, and 'Valbanise' as the last name.Main title part 2
This is the second part of the main title if it has it. Normally this is the location like in our example which it is 'of the White City'. It should be noted if they have several titles of equal rank all second parts are listed here.Minor title
Next are listed all the minor titles the person carries. While classified as minor Stephan's prince title is put here as it refers to any title lower then the main one. 'Heiress to the house of Lgrigoyi' sit here in our example.Honorary titles and other nicknames
All other honorary titles com next 'The Dragon Sorcerous' in our example followed by epithets and other nicknames 'The light of the west'Getting it right
Due to the extensive names that can show up, many nobles have their own announcer, normally a bard, while major palaces will have several spare to learn names of those without ones themselves. Royal events can have up to twenty spare with the Year beginning celebration of Tourlu in 123 Fey had forty, and even then they were learning names to the last second.
