Aspída Lodge
Esteemed Paramilitary Protectorate
Though the group is not an official military or governmentally designated militia, they are well known as an efficient, generally reliable, independent protectorate across borders and especially within Kankou in place of Kankou's discriminatory, somewhat volatile military and law enforcement. Despite their actions being often deemed vigilante justice on a large scale by nobility and governmental entities, it is also not as small and by no means as taboo as an assassins guild or crime syndicate. Even a mercenary's guild is a disputed term for what they are, as they don't seem to match that label either particularly– they're far less independent nor based on bounties. They function much more like a pseudo-military or sovereign organization, or even a multinational police force of sorts. Aspída Lodge is known for being a versatile, elite source for bodyguards, protection, certain sting missions, huntsmen/monster hunters, tracking/retrieving individuals, explorers, protected transport of criminals or others through dangerous terrains or warzones, intimidation, interrogation, and on occasion– hitmen or assassins. Anything as high up as hypothetical assassination (note: assassination is a premeditated, purposeful killing, which is different than the more common occurence by higher-up fighters of the lodge, killing as an outcome of hostile situations or defense) goes through Hydra herself, as Aspída has a reputation to keep in tact if it wants to continue being known as reliable and honorable. The Lodge has a relatively strict code required for the recruitment and promotion of officer positions (Scouts intending on pursuing promotion to a career rank, Privateers, Lieutenants, and Lance Knights) that consists of more ideals than rules of conduct.
