Proto-Drake

Basic Information

Anatomy

Proto-Drakes are much bigger than the modern Drakes but still smaller than Shifter Dragons. They had long necks, two legs, two wings, and no arms which upon hearing about this some Humans said that it sounded like the mythical wyverns from Earth.

Genetics and Reproduction

Like most lizards, the proto-drakes were egg-laying and used external fertilization.

Ecology and Habitats

Much like the Drakes the Proto-Drakes used to live in many of the climates throughout Miyla preferring mountains and coastal cliffs but they could be found in the plains and forests as well.

Behaviour

The Proto-Drakes were not as vicious as their modern counterpart and were easy to train and used as mounts including war mounts in the Miylian War.

Additional Information

Domestication

The Miylian Elder Elves found these drakes easy to train and were used as mounts for everyday travel and later during the Miylian War used as war mounts against the Shifter Dragons which resulted in them going extinct.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Leather products from proto-drakes were used but scholars found that there was a time when that stopped and proto-drakes were seen as members of the family and buried with honor.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Although they lived throughout Miyla some members of the Miylian Elders such as Nuossa Nualestota who primarily worshipped Fa Geinn believed that some proto-drakes lived in the gods realms such as Ell Brich which has given scholars the hope that maybe there is one out there somewhere.
