Ultimus: Summer Camp 2019 Edition!

Are you ready?

History Crash Course

Ultimus is unique to its solar system as it is the only planet with two moons, biodiversity, and interesting history. The current world isn't the same as its past- through a series of destructive events a new period of life and growth is started- these periods are dubbed as 'incarnations' and Ultimus is in its fourth one so far. With each incarnation, new societies, religions, and technology are invented, and mere remnants of the past are recovered. Even in the fourth incarnation, artifacts from the first are still being found, likely as each destructive event buries and unearths various locations throughout the world.

Hollow Ground

An island off the North-Western coast of Union, with a barren landscape, cloudy skies, and endless wind. It has been speculated to be the original homeland to an invasive shape-shifting species that has yet to be scientifically or definitively proven to even exist.

Tempest's Peak

Amongst the cold-windy weather, and in the middle of the rocky terrain, sits Tempest's Peak. Said to be the result of revenge on a cold-hearted traitor, the Peak is a tower carved out from the tallest of stone pillars and is used as a home for rejects, outcasts, and the desperate.

Union

Union is the smaller of the two continents; covered in lush forest, ancient civilizations, and many rich cultures, it is a famous melting pot of ideas.

Auch

Auch is the Northern-most country in Union, because of this there is always a type of cultural barrier for outsiders who visit. This country is under-developed story and culture wise.

Kortlivad

A fishing country south of Auch, which is partly responsible for the outcome of The Pacifist's Confrontation. Another under-developed country to be worked on this year.

Anthos

A small country where the sciences thrive, the discovery site to the Divinitive, location of The Pacifist's Confrontation, and the only place to watch flora magic at its roots.

Ver

One of the larger portions of Union, Ver is located in the center of the plush southern forests. Home to multiple nomadic tribes, private buildings, adventurers, and ruins of a past life.

Nascita

A small but widespread village of magic practitioners. It is inspired by Italian culture and is the birthplace of the character Viola.

The Forgotten Tower

As the name suggests, the Forgotten Tower is one of many ruins hidden in the forests of Ver. This tower is made entirely from trees, manipulated during their growth to shape it into a living building, it has been overrun by local wildlife due to this reason.

Ouv Isles

A collection of coastal towns and small islands, Ouv is a merchant-based government that acts not only as a culture trade but is also a species trade. The Isles were founded by runaway sirens, merfolk, and pirates; and is one of few places in the world where interspecies harmony thrives.

The Island of Tod

An island hidden from the mainland, it is split into three major regions; entirely covered in a fog most days that has been slowly dissipating through the recent years. Tod is an ancient Latin inspired island and features many areas that focus on a different aspect of the culture, as well as other cultures from the time period.

Auferetu

The self-proclaimed "touring destination" to the few outsiders granted permission to enter, Auferetu is run by a series of kingdoms, of which are all ruled by a single more powerful Empress.

Lucubratio

The head kingdom/empire which controls the other regions of Auferetu, Lucubratio is home to Empress Crescentia and is considered successful due to their peace negotiations and trade deals.
Eno
The capital of Lucubratio dubbed the 'neon city' for its countless fluorescent lights used to battle the fog disease, as well as to calm emotions, they say its nearly impossible to tell the day from the night without a clock.

Middle Ground

The sacred mountains which split the island into halves, Middle Ground is covered by a dense forest that is said to be the home to countless supernatural, magical, and rare species.

Temple of Ruins + The Order of the Paragons

Carved along the top of the mountain peaks is a series of temple ruins dated back to the third incarnation, the ruins were once hidden amongst the overgrown brush until it was discovered by a group of academic professors. These professors reclaimed the ruins, they spent years slowly restoring the main bodies and eventually moved in; reinstating an ancient order all the while. These professors became influential figures known as 'Paragons' and the old Order grew once again to maintain peace and prosperity throughout its reach on the world.

The Valley of Colossus

Colossus is a titan dated from the 2nd or 3rd incarnation and is the only known titan to have left remains behind. Based on her final moments, and nature at which she is left in, it has been speculated that she acted as a 'protector' or guard of sorts; what she was guarding, nobody really knows. Despite this it is obvious she took the role to heart even at her demise, she is immortalized as a figure of stone, literally, caught in mid-action. What happened to cause this is another mystery, but the staff that was in mid-swing now acts as a bridge connecting the north from the south.

Veritas

The southern portion of Tod; Veritas is the wild to Auferetu's order, the care-free and the naturalistic. It is separated into five different regions, each with a unique way of life, but ultimately the peoples of Veritas see each other as one.

Infusio

Infusio is a fishing village and small trading port spread along the Western Coasts. They are open to trade with the mainland and small businesses of outsiders, they are so friendly that some outsiders have even been able to make a home out of Infusio, this is a wild contrast to the harsh regulations put on in Auferetu.

The Gladius Estate

The Gladius family has been notorious for different reasons throughout time; from their musical phase to the influencers, to the rebel generation that came last. One thing has remained through these phases in their bloodline, they are seen as powerful, dark, and intimidating to those who aren't in close ties. Ruined after an assassination attack which nearly wiped out the entire bloodline, the impressive Estate is closed off and under repairs by the surviving heiress, Cantionis.

Meta

Meta is the largest single body of land on Ultimus. Meta is full of tundra, patches of deserts, plains, and a unique portion of land that is permafrozen. With a larger land area than Union there comes a larger amount of settlements and diverse culture. Unfortunately, this also means there are more conflicts, scaling from quick skirmishes, clashes in beliefs, and in a special case, an eternal civil war.

Sehk

Sehk is the smallest nation in all of Meta, but this isn't the only factor that makes it unique, it is also a frozen tundra, with sub-temperatures and an endless blizzard. These factors have made Sehk the perfect candidate to act as a 'vault' to protect important findings, research, samples of life and flora, as well as a secure and safe place for leaders around the world to gather in peace talks.

Vorsk

Just south of Sehk is a considerably larger region, full of plains and flat land, Vorsk is based on the German language and culture.

Glut

A very small village full of flower fields, it is quiet and 'traditional' in the sense that its population tries to avoid technology as much as possible. Glut is also the birthplace to the current Paragon of Power, Aga Null, and will be an important setting in the future 'Flower Girls' story.

Langsam

A modest town leaning more western than Glut, Langsam heavily relies upon its aerial port and transportation services to surrounding towns and cities as income. Other than this, the town itself is lazy and almost slow in how it functions.

Lieo

Quite possibly the largest 'country' in all of Ultimus, Lieo is unofficially split into two sides due to an ongoing civil war with no beginning known, and no end in sight.

East

Eastern Lieo is the friendlier of the two halves; there are multiple camps and villages founded specifically for refugees and for taking care of those who have been wounded in combat.

West

The West is more closed off from outside influence, even though they are the more violent side, most battles take place at this region. Despite this, it is home to a Winter Monastery, which is considered an oasis of peace amongst the chaos which surrounds it.

Mourn

Just south of Vorsk, Mourn is one of the more popular parts of Meta, it has a city-state type government and an interesting founding.

The City of Death

The capital city shares the same name as its state, and is the site for the whole regions' founding. Mourn has a strange relationship and perspective on life and death, as it was through an old ritual of mourning, and the subsequent death of a family member which started it all. An organization of necro-magic and healing magic was founded by the name the Guild of Mourn, as a result of these events as well.

The Unknown

This region has no name, yet, but is the site for a few locations that do have names, and history, and information.

Edipherous

Not so much a settlement, Edipherous refers to the large region where a nomadic tribe by the same name would travel and hunt before their untimely near full-demise after moving to Halo.

Erimiá

A spice-farming village in a small desert, Erimiá is rich in color due to the spices it harvests, as well as the clothes dyed from said spices. While they consider themselves a singular village, it is actually a string of small settlements and homesteads connected by their extroverted social lives. It is based on the Greek language and culture.

Halo

A region on the smaller side compared to its neighbors, Halo sits right along a large river and is partially covered by a forest and canyon-like landscapes.

The Empire of Fire

Prosperous not only in life and culture but magic and flora as well. Halo user to be a vital trading port to northern Meta, bringing many peoples together, and distributing a rare magical resource that came in many forms. The Kingdom perished in a bizarre wildfire, which swept through the region and left a scar on the earth from decades to come. Despite the devastating effects, the outside world didn't know about the event until years later, and even with an intense investigation, a solid explanation for the fire has never been discovered. The remaining descendants of Halo and the Edipherous tribe now live in the ruins, a shadow of who they used to be, and hardened by scavenging for resources.

Halie

A modest country south of Erimiá, Halie is full of sites with 1st incarnation runes and stone statues. The rolling hills and lovely grass fields make for a calm country-side vacation for local residents.

Muir

Muir is a tall-grass valley town located closer to the coastlines, it is a calm market-based town, where the most exciting to happen is typically a new product made available to trade.

Yett

Off the coast of Halie, after a short boat ride, is the unoccupied island of Yett. No one lives there, but many people come to visit as it is a rare above-land shrine to the widespread water deity 'Oseala'

Steid

A larger country that borders both Halie and the unknown region, Steid is equal parts desert, forest, and plains.

Blin

Not hidden from the world so much as digitally disconnected, Blin is a large city off the coast in Steid. Many writers and researchers often find themselves making a home here due to the quiet and peaceful nature of the city, as well as the lack of distractions that society and media often bring with it.
