Smoldering Remains

Floating in the distance, you can see another landmass, tethered to the island by enourmous chains. The second island and the chains that lead to it are obscured slightly by large mist clouds, lending them a blurry, indistinct appearance. The island bristles with protrusions. There are twelve root-like extensions twisting out from from the main landmass. Some twist smoothly away from the main surface, whereas others seem to come out at sharp bent angles.
The Smoldering Remains are an enormous land mass floating through the Astral Plane. The island is formed from pocked and spiky stones jutting out at an angle, and has extremely rich deposits of gold, platinum, and incantrum. The stones are largely dull matte blacks and greys, but there are rare examples of stones that can be found in shining black, blue, green, red, and white, the five colors of the chromatic dragons. Stones that still have their color often hold some measure of elemental power, and can be used to boost elemental magic associated with that color dragon.   These stones hint at the truth, which is that the island is in fact the corpse of Tiamat, the Queen of Chromatic Dragons. After the events of The Roaring of the Gods, the destroyed shell of the Chromatic Queen settled here. Under the surface of stony scales, precious metals with a strong association with magic have formed, including large deposits of incantrum full to the brimming with Tiamat's power and essence.   Enormous iron chains run between the Smoldering Remains and Deiamouse, and the two float together through the Astral Plane.

Geography

The island is shaped vaguely in the form of Tiamat, and so there are several offshoots which were her 5 heads, as well as large flats which were once wings. It is entirely barren on the surface, comprised of grey stone and dragonshards. The gravity of the Astral Plane plays strangely over the godly form, creating a strange form of subjective gravity where a creature is able to stand on any surface as if it was the ground. The resulting effect is that stepping onto a vertical wall would, from a creature's perspective, cause the entire world to shift 90 degrees. This is disorienting, and makes it surprisingly difficult to navigate on the Remains.   Parts of the remains are still burning, with pyres of black Godflame burning away from the husk, eating away at the slow trickle of godly energy emanating from the remains. These stationary godflames are very dangerous, and can cause permanent damage to any mortal who exposes themself to them.

Fauna & Flora

Due to the high concentration of magic in the area, there are several instances of animated creatures that roam the remains. Borne of the death of a god, these creatures are invariably dangerous and hostile.    The three primary types of these creatures are Godflame Wraiths, Chromatic Echoes, and Alloycoil Drakes.
