Astral Plane
The Astral Plane is the plane of existence that contains passageways to other planes (though it does not physically contain the other planes of existence, see Planar Resonance for some theories on the subject).
The Astral Plane has a tenuous relationship with physical space, at best. Largely, it is a plane of cognition, so there are some spaces that are very large and dense with strange structures and life, and there are vast spaces that are almost entirely empty. It can be used to traverse vast distances on the material plane without exposing oneself to the deadly emptiness of space. This travel is no less dangerous, however, in regards to keeping oneself alive. Knowing one's destination while traversing the vast distances on the Astral Plane is critical. Alternatively, not knowing one's destination is also acceptable, and will quickly carry a traveler along to their destination. Being unsure of where one (or more than one, in the case of groups) wishes to go can be a quick path to a lethal stagnation.
