Clearwen

One of the original cities of Matonga. It was built on the landing spot of The Balancer, The Discipliner, The Miner and The Thinker.
Clearwen is a layered city, with a vertical span of a kilometer. At 500m, there is a massive waterfall flowing all the way down to the river towards Ironbridge. The waterfall originates from a lake, which is filled by mountain spring water (legend says the energy of the upwards water comes from the dwarven forges deep in the mountains). Around the lake is the center of the town, where the library and scholar collages are located.

Clearwen is home to some of the finest colleges in the Inlands area.
The city's was founded to commemorate the dwarf-human relations in the area. The Thinker founded the Clearwen Library to promore wisdom sharing. There is no racial discrimination applied to college staff or students. This holds for all races, though most inhabitants are dwaven and human.

Government

Both dwarven and human leaders of the area reside in Clearwen. The humans in the most beautiful palace with a gorgeous view over the valleys. The dwarves in an underground palace where the walls are filled with luminous gems. Tensions exist on the level of the black markets. Dwarven forged weapons are traded to humans so they can sell them on ships to faraway wars. The thief's guilt from Ecton is trying to establish themselves in Clearwen to get a share of the market. Negotiations are subtly noticeable in the political climate and result in blackmail and bribery.

Defences

The military college produces soldiers for the human national guard and for the dwarven clans. All races receive the same training, which results in strong military bonds between dwarves and humans in the region.

Industry & Trade

Clearwen is a rich city. Anyone who works with the colleges is usually fairly compensated and is treated with respect by the others. Both legal and black market profit from the producing of the Gjerde forges and many scholars from the college work on research and development of blueprints.
