Ogier the Dane
Snoring Paladin
A decorated member of Charlemagne's Paladins hailing from Ys. Ogier the Dane has seen many great adventures in his long lifetime and took the role of hero in several more, even once crossing blades with Charlemagne. He is known as giant-slayer and wielder of the broken sword, Cortaine, which was once owned by a member of the Knights of the Siege Perilous.
Now, in his old age, Ogier prefers sleeping to warring. He is said to rest within Kronberg Castle in the fabled "Nether Lands," seated in a cold stone throne with a beard that reaches the floor. Legend says he walked all the way from Ys after his final adventure and slumpt into this seat before falling into an age-old sleep.
Except that's not where he is now, as evidenced by Matsumoto Ooawagaeri discovering Ogier inexplicably napping in a throne in the middle of the frozen reaches of Mutsu Province, Japan. Perhaps, though, it is not so odd to find a legendary figure known for sleeping in a realm beset by corruption from the Dreamlands.
Though he has the patience and fortitude of a lifetime of experience, Ogier also maintains a strong sense of duty. His wish is to return to Ys, or better, his castle, and resume his sleep. Until such an opportunity shows itself, however, he has agreed to join with Oooawagaeri's motley crew as they traverse the lands of the Date Clan and attempt to close the dream-rift.
