Summary
Matsumoto Ooawagaeri younger brother, and youngest member of the Matsumoto Clan, separated from his siblings when very young. Hiegaeri has a somewhat effeminate and obsequious manner, further accented by the morbid sense of humor which seems to run in his family. Although he does seem to care about his older brother, his feelings are complex, and dominated by an overwhelming sense of inadequacy that could be dangerous if left alone. In combat, he fights quickly and relentlessly, attempting to wear down his opponents' defense with multiple weaker attacks. His hobbies include stargazing and sulking in his room. During Ooawagaeri's initial scouting of the Palace of the Firebird, Hieigaeri was slain by a hulking demon called an Astaroth. His soul was captured, and only retrieved from the grasps of Gehenna during the Hashinara Clan's full assault on the fortress. He has since been granted a new, supernaturally powerful body by Hashinara Yoshitakatomo and bestowed the name Hiei. This rebirth seems to have solidified his loyalty to the Hashinara Clan, but also deepened the rift between him and his brother.Mental characteristics
