Ryn’s Journals

Written by Orryn Steelfist these journals record his exploration of the savage lands. They contain detailed notes on the terrain, structures and potential threats. The full journals are treated as a military secret, but copies with sensitive information removed are available to the public.
In keeping with tradition Orryn didn't create any maps and instead referenced landmarks and days travelled to describe the locations he explored.

Public Reaction

The journals are hugely popular amongst the general population in Khezdur as they provide a view of places most people will never see. They also inspired an entire generation of scouts and explorers, along with plenty of those looking to make a quick gold off the back of the new interest in the unexplored.

25 Mids
I've reached the lower slopes of Gycaron and I now need to rearrange my gear in preparation for moving onto the plains. As ever the scale of the plains seems far greater and more immediate than when seen from high up. Now that I am here I have determined that for this journey I will be travelling towards the region claimed by the hobs as there appears to be too much activity towards the north-west.[/br]

15 Saum
By happy chance, yesterday I managed to locate what I believe is the Stone Gallery. After having to find cover part way up a cliff to hide from a hob patrol I discovered a cave leading deeper into the mountain. A thin stream of water flowed down this tunnel so I left my pack at the entrance and secured a rope to a handy outcropping before entering. It was well l did so as the tunnel proved treacherously slippy and i found myself sliding down to land in a large pool of water.

11 Armin
Travelling beside the river I have been forced to frequently take cover from groups of orcs over the last several days. This morning the reason became clear as I caught sight of an immense lake. At first sight is seemed like several large islands were moving on the lake, but as I drew nearer I realised they were huge pieces of ice.

4 Sush
This morning I saw what I though was an immense bird flying above the clouds. As it moved closer I realised that I had completely misjudged the scale. It was a dragon, with scales of shimmering white and it was unbelieveably huge. Despite being in an area with promising passages which may hold Hulgin’s Spire I need to head back and report this.
