Form Stabiliser

A cure for Green Corruption developed at Strelphin Hall.   This mixture was developed through several decades of research. As a starting point the researchers used information on study into the nature of Green Corruption (grupt) carried out several hundred years ago at the Taragon Medical Centre. This indicated that the disease was virtually impossible to cure using regular clerical magic and that rather than trying to purge the disease a treatment that increased the bodies resistance to transformation would be more effective.   The initial trials involved using arcane magic to enact transformations on slaves after feeding them various alchemical compounds. After 5 years of trial and error several compounds were identified as being effective in reducing the effect of transformation. Trials then moved onto testing the effectiveness of the compounds against grupt itself. Victims of the disease were identied and carefully brought to Strelphin Hall where they were used to infect hundreds of slaves.   With a high chance of infection, only arcane spell casters were employed in this research, with all of them under strict orders to always use their powers when interacting with the test subjects. Despite this, several of the researchers managed to become infected and became test subjects themselves. It was thanks to the design of the research sections of Strelphin Hall that these infections didn't spread any further.   It took a further 7 years ot trials before the researchers had a compound that could halt the progress of the infection. While considered a success by many, the Emperor was not content with this and demanded they continue their research until they found a way to reverse the changes caused by grupt. Along with ensuring that they had the resources to continue their work the Emperor also provided the researchers with further material his agents had acquired on studies carried out during the previous age. These studies showed how information on a person's body is tored within them. By leveraging this information the researchers were able to identify a way to extract information on a test subjects original form. This could then be transferred into a potion that would cause the subject to slowly revert to their original form.   Further years of research went into simplifying the potions and spells required for this treatment before it began being taught to healers in 220.
Inventor(s)
Jorin Agara was the leader of the team that developed this cure and his name was added to the Pillar of Hope in 220.
Access & Availability
The treatment is taught to healers throughout the Empire of Dalthion and is freely available to citizens of the empire.  As with other healing, it will only be administeed to lower castes if a citizen is willing to request and pay for the treatment.
Complexity
The cure consists of 2 potions, both which can be prepared by a competent alchemist:
  • The first stops any further changes by the disease.
  • The second returns the patient to their original form.
While both potions can be prepared by an alchemist the second must later be infused with magic through a divination spell which identifies the patient's original form.  Without this magic the second potion is useless.
