A carnivorous plant that feeds on some of the dangerous insects in Griboli Forest.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Growing to about 2ft high this plant has broad thick leaves and a bulbous stem that resembles an inverted bell. The bell part of the stem is open to the air and filled with liquid and the upper parts of the innerside are covered in fine hairs. Smaller side stems hold smaller leaves and small purple flowers.
The plant has a thick central root which grows almost directly straight down, with smaller roots growing off from the sides. The roost system rarely extends behind half the width if the leaves.

Dietary Needs and Habits

In addition to drawing what nutrients they an from the soil these plants also lure insects into the bell shaped stem using scents. When an something brushes past the hairs on the inside of the chamber the upper part squeezes shut, trapping things inside. The liquid at the bottom of the chamber is capable of breaking down an insect and allows the plant to extract nutrients from it.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

These plants are of great use to those travelling through or staying in Griboli forest. Many of the insects that the plants attract contain toxins and the plants have developed their own counteragents. These are produced in the central root and can be extracted by squeezing or crushing the root. The extracted liquid is in high demand amongst those travelling through or even near the forest.
The plants can also be used to reduce the number of dangerous insects that might infest a camp or settlement. Those experienced in the ways of the forest twill set up camp near to patch of these plants as the insects will go to the plants rather than attacking any travellers. Those constructing longer term settlements will often try to create a ring of these plants around the settlement, along with a few more inside to reduce the risk of a poisonous insect bite.
