Celosia

The Burning Flame

Celosia was the Celestial of fire. She is most known for her marriage to the Commander and her tragic death. Other than that, she was known as a great musician and a good fighter.
Celosia was one of the most beloved Celestials. Even I must admit that her marriage bridged the gap between the Light and Dark Celestials. It makes sense that the truth about her death is what caused the War.
— Jason, Council of Life

History

As one of the Elemental Celestials, Celosia was a first generation Celestial. Her exact date of origin is unknown, but myths about her and the other Elementals began to circulate around 8000 BPC. Celosia was often with Oralia, the Celestial of air, and the two compared their relationship to be as close as sisters, even if they were not truly related. Celosia was also good friends with the other Elementals, Fadilah and Naida. Fadilah is believed to be the one who made Celosia's beloved violin and Naida was a trusted confidante.

No one witnessed Celosia's first meeting with the Commander, but his sister Love claimed to have seen it in another vision. Supposedly, the two met in the woods and danced, falling in love almost immediately. Celosia brought the Commander out of the shadows and gave him something beautiful to have. They announced their desire to marry and were met with surprise and concern from almost everyone.   The story of their marriage ceremony is filled with missing pieces and only holds a few moments. They exchanged rings and vows, celebrated with their friends, and danced a beautiful dance that is referred to as the "Dance of True Souls". Following
their marriage, they moved to the Commander's castle and began their new life.   Some amount of years after the marriage, Celosia gave birth to a daughter named Rohana, who was born the Celestial of knowledge. For much of Rohana's childhood, the family would often visit with other Celestials and attend small parties. Celosia was the bridge between the Dark and Light Celestials, refusing to exclude anyone from her conversations and speaking with everyone who approached her. She was the most beloved of all the Celestials, the person everyone loved and respected. Very few Celestials disliked her, although Darina was one. A vague legend claims Darina once tried to kidnap Rohana and Celosia rescued her.
Although the year is unknown, legends based on Love's letters describe the day that the Commander came to visit his sister, his face covered and his gait hesitant. He spoke to Love for only a few minutes, and when he left, she was the one who sent out the news. Celosia was dead. Her husband refused to say how she died. The Celestials had much to say. Her daughter said nothing at all.
The Commander came to visit his sister alone. He wore all black, covered his face, and barely spoke. What words he did say were twisted with pain.
— From Burning Shadows
Celosia's funeral was attended by every Celestial alive at the time. Fadilah buried the casket while Oralia and Naida sang in mourning. Rohana clung silently to her father's side, staring at the ground. The Commander was expressionless. The two ignored every whisper that passed between the others and returned home together after accepting condolences. No one but Alvacia, Felicia, and Nicole was allowed to visit them, not even Love. Not even the other Elementals. Celosia's ring and violin were lost. Her family was shattered. No one knew what to say or how to say it.

The truth escaped with the Celestial War. Love had seen Celosia's death in a vision, had seen her friend killed by Oblivion, killed by the Commander. When Rohana escaped her father, Love confessed what she had seen and shared it with other Celestials. The War began immediately, the Light and Dark Celestials choosing their sides. When it was over, the truth spread like a wildfire, as if Celosia's wronged spirit was encouraging it, bringing it across the galaxy. But she was still dead, thousands were still dead, and even with the truth known to all, the world would never be the same.

Magic & Powers

Celosia's powers were all related to fire, as it was her domain. She was, however, stronger than any fire mage could have any hope of becoming. Fire was not simply controlled by her, it obeyed her every whim and desire. A snap of her fingers could summon a raging whirlwind. A tilt of her head could shift flames across a plain. Fire was not just her tool, it was practically an extension of her body. Some legends claim she was even powerful enough to heal minor injuries with her fire.

Appearance & Renderings

Celosia's appearance is consistent across all mentions and mediums. She was tall, with long, thin hair the color of flames and soft amber eyes. She had flawless light skin devoid of birthmarks or scars and both elegant and delicate features. Celosia is often pictured in close-fitting clothes in shades of orange and white. Early images of her depict what has been termed her "battle armor". Her hair was always styled straight down and often floated in the air when she moved. Many Celestials called her the most beautiful woman in the world.   The majority of Celosia's artworks feature her with her husband and daughter. Several artworks were drawn by the same artist; one is of Celosia dancing with Rohana while the Commander watches. A well-known painting shows the two falling through the air in a representation of their love story. Celosia was not only drawn with her family, however. She appears in pictures alongside the other Elementals and various other Celestials, especially one of her playing her violin while Naida and Fadilah dance. Very few of her pictures show her alone.

You may be underestimating me. Exectrion would not have fallen in love with me if I was not powerful.

Author's Notes

Ah, the amount of stuff I had to omit while writing this article... Celosia is one of my favorite Celestials and I think that ended up coming through haha.   Once again, my artist might make a portrait and I'll add it in if that happens.

I love Celosia. It's so sad she is dead.
