Felicia

Felicia is one of the mysterious Celestials of legend. She is the Celestial of food and is considered one of the kindest and most generous Celestials. She is often pictured with a bowl of stew or fruit.
Dear lights, you must be exhausted. Come in, quickly. It is already cold out, you do not want to freeze. Quickly, I said!

History

Felicia is an old Celestial, appearing in myths about Celosia and the Commander from around 7000 BPC. Her exact origins are uncertain, but she is listed as a second generation Celestial who was made into a Celestial, and some suspect she was created by the Commander in return for a favor or kindness. Felicia appears in a story about Celosia and the Commander's wedding as well as their overall love story. Her initial connections with the Celestial world are linked to those two specifically, although she soon met Nicole, the Celestial of Compassion. The two women became good friends.
At some point after being made a Celestial but before the Celestial War, Felicia got married and had three daughters. Her husband died during that time as well, but no one knows whether she married him before or after she became a Celestial. Felicia had a close relationship with all of her daughters, particularly the oldest, Patricia, although it is rarely remarked on. None of her daughters were Celestials, but they were known to be Eternals.   According to Burning Shadows, Felicia was one of the three people allowed to visit the Commander's fortress after Celosia's death. She never said anything about her visits, even after she was also barred from the place. Felicia did not take part at all in the

Celestial War but unlike Nicole, who some believe was simply elsewhere, Felicia is documented as bluntly refusing to choose a side. She is mentioned again in the aftermath, offering food to survivors and comforting those who lost family, friends, leaders, and more.
Did you know that our statue is one of only two in existence that shows Felicia that way? Most people show her standing and offering a bowl, or just standing and holding it, but ours shows her kneeling to offer it. It's like she's truly offering it to us when we're looking up at her statue. Isn't that amazing?
— A Derneran to their students
Felicia is one of the Celestials who continued to make frequent appearances in legend following the War. Like Nicole, she kept to outer-rim planets or those with very few people. Her favorite planet was Xyan, a small farming planet. The people on Xyan adored Felicia and, although they kept back from worshipping her, offered her immense honor. The town of Dernere, which is associated with her the most, even built a statue of her in the center. It is believed that Felicia blessed the statue and will protect anyone who touches it.
Felicia's kindness and generosity are known by all. Her compassion is second only to Nicole, who is the Celestial of that force. Yet even the calmest and gentlest person can suffer loss and still move. A memorial plaque is located at the base of Dernere's statue of Felicia. Alongside numerous other people, three names stand out. Isabel and Elira are two. They were Felicia's younger daughters, killed under mysterious circumstances after the Celestial War. Patricia's name appears just below. A mysterious letter seems to confirm this theory.

Magic & Powers

As a created Celestial and a second generation, Felicia's powers are weaker than most first generations and a considerable amount of other second generations. However, her domain and personality together have given her a wide variety of powers. She has mild healing abilities, powerful protection and barrier spells, elemental magic that allows her to control certain types of plants, and kinetic magic that helps her create food out of nothing.   Felicia has a vast array of other skills and talents that are not related to magic or her domain as a Celestial. She is a skilled knitter, sewer, crocheter, and a mildly decent weaver. Her gardening skills are also impressive. Like most Celestials, Felicia can speak multiple languages, but she is one of the only ones who is perfectly fluent in all the languages she knows, understanding even the most complicated rules of speech.

Appearance & Renderings

Felicia is described and pictured as a short woman in her mid-to-late forties with curly dark red hair and dark green eyes. Her outfits tend toward the simple and unremarkable, often in shades of brown with occasional green and red. She wears her hair down most of the time, but stories claim she wraps it in a kerchief when working. Her skin is pale and dotted with freckles. While her features tend to shift from artwork to artwork, her expression is always warm and welcoming, her hands are often busy, and she always looks ready to offer a hug.   Much to the surprise of scholars, Felicia has more artworks dedicated to her than any other Celestial, even more than Love and the Commander. Pictures and statues of her can be found all across the galaxy, on almost every planet, in every conceivable style and form. Felicia is usually pictured with her bowl, but she has also been pictured knitting, stoking a fire, picking herbs, preparing some kind of food, or simply talking with people. Other than her famous bowl, Felicia's other symbols include a pie with three slices cut into it, a table with seven empty chairs, and a gold necklace with a leaf charm.

Author's Notes

Ah, the perfect mix of informative, heartwarming, and tragic. Felicia is a very relatable Celestial, a very human one, and it was easy to write her.   My artist friend might make a portrait this month. I'll add it in if she does.
