Rohana

The Celestial of knowledge, Rohana is famous for being the daughter of Celosia and the Commander. She is a second generation Celestial and married to Celebrant.

History

Rohana was born a Celestial. Her parents are the famous (or infamous) Celestials whose love story is known across the galaxy. It is unknown exactly when or how long after her parents' marriage she was born. During her childhood, Rohana's parents often brought her to visit other Celestials. Many paintings depict what her family life could have been like, showing her dancing with her mother and sitting with her father.

A strange and vague myth after Rohana's birth claims that Darina, the Celestial of deception, once kidnapped Rohana and held her hostage for several hours before Celosia and the Commander rescued her. This story is highly debated in academic circles and many consider it a false legend. In her later years and stories, Rohana does appear to have an irrational fear of the older woman, although whether this is due to trauma or simple dislike is uncertain.

Rohana's childhood was happy, but tragedy struck when she was still young. Celosia died mysteriously and the Commander refused to tell anyone what happened. Even Rohana did not know. The young girl was silent through the funeral and burial of her mother and never left her father's side. The two returned to their home after and everyone but three Celestials was kept out. Even Rohana's aunt was not allowed to visit. Soon, even the three her father trusted were prevented from entering, and Rohana became isolated and alone.

Some amount of years after Celosia's death, the Commander introduced Rohana to his other daughter, Kendra. Kendra had never been seen before and her sudden arrival confused and unsteadied Rohana. Kendra took her place in the household as the Commander's heir and forced Rohana to be her servant. For hundreds of years, Kendra treated Rohana horribly without any intervention from their father, who had become someone Rohana no longer recognized or understood.

You know what betrayal feels like. I do as well. I remember the taste of bitterness. I remember how painful it was. But I cannot remember why it hurt so much. There are gaps in my memory. Did he make me forget that he hated me? Or did he remove my memories of his love?

Eventually, Rohana had enough. She found a map in her father's office and fled from the palace when Kendra was distracted. She escaped the Commander's territory and managed to find Love, the Commander's sister and Rohana's aunt. Love welcomed Rohana and gave her sanctuary. When Rohana explained what had happened to her, Love told her about a vision she had many years ago that she had doubted. In Love's vision, the Commander had killed Celosia after she found something. Love now believed that Celosia had found Kendra and the Commander had killed her for it.

father, Love sent word to the rest of the Celestials and revealed what she had seen. The Light Celestials flocked to her side while the Dark Celestials joined the Commander and so the Celestial War began. For the first time in centuries, Rohana was finally free and meeting other Celestials, but now she was forced to fight in a war she had neither expected nor prepared for.
When the War ended, the Commander was defeated, but at a terrible cost. Rohana watched as the Celestials splintered even more. Love had died while banishing the Commander from their world, her mother's closest friends had all been killed, and the most powerful people in the world seemed even more broken than before. Rohana turned to Celebrant, the son of Oralia, and the two became friends. Within a few years, they had fallen in love and married in secret.

Despite their love, marriage, and secret children, Rohana and Celebrant often went long stretches of time without seeing each other. Rohana wanted to see the world and learn all she could, while Celebrant preferred to stay for decades in one place. Even with their separations, the two were never far from each other's thoughts. They have been the last two Celestials to marry since the Celestial War.

Magic & Powers

Rohana has primarily arcane and mental magic. She is proficient in various spells and other mysterious magic and has a wide variety of abilities related to knowledge and information. She is one of the best Celestials at languages and is the only Celestial with true psychometry. Her other abilities include telepathy, empathy, illusions, and teleportation.

Appearance & Renderings

Rohana's appearance is described often and illustrated well. She has light skin like her parents, deep purple eyes, and long black hair. Her hair is almost the same color as her father's but lighter and almost the same texture as her mother's but heavier. Rohana is shorter than her mother but still fairly tall, approximately 5'7". She usually wears dark dresses that complement her hair and eyes, often either black or purple. She rarely wears jewelry, but she does own a wedding ring and a bracelet with black and purple beads that is usually referred to as a gift from her father. Her hair is usually shown in a bun or a crown braid.
Rohana appears in many images and illustrations across the galaxy. A famous artwork is called "False Sisters", painted by an unknown artist, and shows her standing across from Kendra, likely at their first meeting. Many artworks have taken inspiration and pictured the same scene, with slight differences in each iteration. Rohana as a child is pictured with her parents, particularly her mother. There is a drawing in a book in the Kersar Library that depicts Rohana sitting with her father as he reads a book. Illustrations set after the Celestial War often place Rohana with Celebrant and occasionally with their Celestial children.
