Aliend

Aliend is the second generation Celestial Celestial of denial and allied strongly with other Dark Celestials. She was known to host tea parties and invite Celestials, Eternals, and even particularly influential mortals to them.

Stay with Aliend. You may feel suspicious of her because of her wealth and upbringing, but she will protect you when I cannot. She is smarter than anyone thinks. Listen to her, stay with her, and she will show you how to make alliances.

History

Aliend is a second generation Celestial, meaning she was born more than a thousand years before the Celestial War, but she is in fact one of the few Celestials whose actual age can be approximated. In a transcription of a meeting with her group of companions dated from just before the Celestial War, Aliend declares that she is 2,250 years old.

Aliend was born to wealthy parents on some unknown planet. Little is known of her upbringing and childhood. She was known to reject every marriage proposal that was sent to her. While her parents initially allowed her to do so, they became frustrated as the years passed and she continued to refuse them. They began to scheme for ways to force her to marry. Before their plans could be put into motion, however, Aliend was made into a Celestial by someone who admired her dedication. The Celestial in question is uncertain, but Aliend says they were a first generation.

Aliend's magic and status as an Eternal made her unable to be manipulated or coerced into marriage. The new Celestial remained on her home planet with her family for another few years, but she soon left and joined Celestial society, where she rapidly allied with the Dark Celestials. She soon created her own circle of companions, with the first members being Xuena and Neve. Madeleine joined the three several decades later.

Aliend was known to despise Love, warning new Dark Celestials to stay away from her. She did not, however, hate Celosia and often expressed her admiration for the other woman. Her only criticism was that Celosia spent so much time with Love and not enough with the younger, newer Celestials. When Love revealed the truth of Celosia's death, Aliend refused to believe her and took the Commander's side along with the rest of the Dark Celestials.

Some have accused me of manipulating new Celestials. I do not manipulate them, I simply advise them. And contrary to what some Celestials do, I will not abandon those I have taken under my tutelage. I will protect them.

Following the Celestial War, Aliend became a soloist Celestial, rarely interacting with other Celestials. She returned to her home planet and had a manor built, staying there alone with only her distant nephew, Adam, for company. She did, however, begin to invite Celestials and Eternals to her home every few years for tea and gossip. Occasionally, she extended the

invitations to influential mortals. The parties, elite as they are, are not restricted to the wealthy or those of rank. Aliend determines a person's worth separate from social class.
Although she is not one of the most powerful Celestials, she is known to have incredibly high intelligence, an impressive memory, and surprisingly good fighting skills. Those who attempt breaking into her manor are never seen again and Aliend admits to stopping intruders herself.

Magic & Powers

Aliend has very minor magical prowess. The majority of her magical abilities are limited to teleportation, illusions, spellcasting, and light mental magic such as telepathic messages and knowledge. Her high intelligence makes it difficult to know which abilities are magical and which are natural. She has a high resistance to mind control and claims to be able to detect lies and see through illusions. Neve directly contradicts the final statement in a letter to Madeleine, but all of her other powers are plausible and agree with her domain of denial.

Aliend is pictured and described as a tall woman in her late twenties with the bearing and manners of a wealthy noblewoman. She has pale skin, long blonde hair that is usually pinned up in elaborate styles, and dark blue eyes. She is one of the few Celestials to use cosmetics. Aliend usually wears expensive gowns in shades of red, blue, green, and black, with gold or platinum jewelry. Her gestures are sweeping, dramatic, and exaggerated, yet elegant and controlled. She walks with her shoulders held back and her chin tilted up. A faint, calculating smile is never far from her lips.
Aliend is one of the more aesthetically pleasing Celestials as well as one that interacts with others regularly. Most of her artworks include other people, especially other Celestials. She is often drawn with her main companions: Madeleine, Neve, Xuena, and occasionally Yelena, Dinah, Dolores, and Rachel. She appears in several illustrations of Dark Celestial councils and one image from Jere shows her having dinner with Devon.

It was Aliend who brought me to Celestial society. I am older than her, many years older, but I lived on the run before I met her. I drifted from place to place like a shadow, never staying somewhere long. She met me at a party, realized what I was, and promised to show me how to fit in. I would not say I owe her my life, nor that I owe her for her protection, but I would call her my first friend. The first person I cared for after my sister died.
