Southern Caye Beacon of Warding

Sister city to Northern Caye Beacon of Refuge on the opposite end of the peninsula, but while the light from their beacon is used to attract and guide, the lights of the South are used in opposition, be means to ward and warn off. Unlike the calm seas to the north, the southern seas are rough, and are plagued by powerful storms. The inclement weather, combined with the jagged and rocky shores close to the mainland, has caused the loss of innumerable ships and lives. The immense concentration of spiritual energies which passed on under horrific circumstances, has caused the area to become haunted by ghosts and wandering spirits. Thus, the beacon serves two purposes: A signal to those at sea to steer clear of the dangerous shores, and to repel the nocturnal undead from the city limits. Sailors are taught to remember the significance of the colored lights with rhymes: "When the beacon burns as blue, the depths of Marloch beckon you" - a blue light indicating storms and to stay away. "When Denoué's children can be seen, warding light shall burn as green" - a green light is used to ward off spirits and undead.   While the closest mainland city to the southern islands, this port's level of hustle and bustle is tempered by the unique factors based on its location. Still, as the only harbor for several days travel, its use for mercantile purposes is practically mandatory. Akin to the Northern Beacon, the Southern location is a bountiful center for shipping goods to and from the islands, shipbuilding, fishing, and immigration of persons. Due to the centuries worth of sunken cargo and flotsam from sea or undead destroyed ships, treasure hunting and salvagers. A certainly high risk, high reward endeavor, and not one denounced by the local leadership, but it has certainly claimed vastly more lives than it has produced wealthy entrepreneurs and adventurers. For some, many times for those with nothing left to lose, the allure of riches and treasure are worth the risk of life and limb.   It is no surprise that Marloch, The Ebb and Flow is of great import in a port city, much like in Northern Caye Beacon of Refuge. Unique to the South, is the importance that Denoué, The Beginning of the End has in combating the undead scourge. As such, representatives from both religious sects are pivotal roles in the city's leadership.   Architecture: Monolithic dome structures, cement, stone, storm resistant materials and structures    Commerce: Island trade, transportation, lumber, stone, construction, ship building, wreck diving/treasure hunting    Population: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling   Society: Junta Republic, military and religious representatives   Miscellany:    Southern Caye Beacon of Warding, Post Fall: Both the intensity and frequency of storms has increased since the global shift, leading to more frequent shipwrecks, which then leads to more frequent undead attacks. With the Beacon's energy being finite, it has come close to waning on several occasions, which would permit the undead to enter the city proper. There have been reports of citizens who perish but are returned to life with all their faculties intact, unaware of their undead state until the Beacon is lit, and they are repelled from the city limits. Rumors suggest a shanty town has started to develop on the outskirts of town beyond the light's edge.
