Marloch, The Ebb and Flow

Common Names: King of Tides, Sinker/Savior of Ships/Sailors, Cycler of Swells,   Domains: Water, Sailors, Ships and Water Travel, Sea Monsters, Fish, Storms, Cycles, Moon   Mantra: Let still be your waters (peaceful). Swell and surge as does the King of Tides   Followers: Those that follow Marloch, tend to have the presence of water in their daily lives and activities, such as Ports Cities, Sailors, Ferrymen, Pirates, and Fishermen. Those who idolize water and its role in nature and weather and as an element, or processes that occur in cycles, such as the moon, tides, seasons, day and night, are also prone to Worship him, Clergy and Druidic circles. Many followers are categorized into the following titles based on their roles and skill sets: Tide Casters (Magic Users), Tide Callers (Bards), Tide Runners (Rogues), Tide Ravagers (Warriors). Derogatory names include: Drip, Pisswater, and Swill Swallowers. It is common practice for followers to always have two waterskins: one fresh for drinking and cooking, and one salt for the cleaning of wounds. They strive to keep these full at all times.   Symbol: A curling wave spiraling and feeding into itself   Description: An elderly man whose appearance changes as do the tides: short, thin, frail, and hunched when low, that swells to a brute nearly 12 feet in height when high, both of these forms accentuated particularly by the lunar phase. In all forms, he is said to have long grey hair that slightly moves as if floating in the water, and blue grey skin akin to that of a water Genasi that always seems to be damp. The age spots normally associated with mortals, appear as ichthyotic scales on face and appendages.   As changes his physical appearance, so does his temperament: Kind and docile, like a doting grandfather when when the tides are out, and quick to anger like a truculent codger when they are in. While these physical and behavioral cycles are regular and predictable, he can also be fickle and erratic when the mood strikes, like that of a sudden storm taking form on the open oceans.   As the god of water, typical prayers of men include: rainfall, safe sea travels, bountiful nets full of fish, the quelling or rerouting of a storm. As the overseeer of cycles, reverence for spring rains, mild winters, and temperate summers, as well as long days, and short nights to keep the darkness and its creatures at bay.   Holding no particular ethos when it comes to the laws of men, neutral in all aspects as it relates to the balance of the world, it is not uncommon for creatures that worship the moon and thrive darkness to bow their heads to Marloch, including lycanthropes and vampires, though in the latter case the prefer he direct his water elsewhere.   Relic: Crown of Corals and Crescents
