Dancing Sunlight Item in Torlas | World Anvil

Dancing Sunlight

This shortsword is elegantly inlaid with gold, with more of it revealed and lighting up as the powers are awakened. It was gifted to a famous bard by the Sundancer for making her children, the Light Daughter and the Laughing Bard, dance and sing after the tragedies of the Second Sundering. It is one of the most renowned Remnants of Sundering, though that can be attributed to its owners over the years more than anything, and are best used by powered bards.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Dormant State: Increases accuracy and damage of strikes. Whenever the wielder empowers someone else, they can heal themselves or the recipient a little.   Awakened State: Further increases accuracy and damage of strikes. Whenever the wielder taunts an enemy, the target is also distracted enough to be more likely to fail next time they try to save against an effect.   Empowered State: Even further increases accuracy and damage of strikes. You can allow the fierce spirits of the previous wielders to empower you, making 3 melee attacks that deal additional holy damage when it hits. This feature cannot be used again until you sleep.

Raw materials & Components
In its most awakened form, as it is now, Dancing Sunlight is considered one of the most beautiful Remnants. The handguard is made of burnished gold that curls out in the shape of liquid flames while the grip is ringed with it and dark leather. Yellow gold has crept in winding lines down the leaf-shaped blade from the hilt and reach almost to the point. In less awakened forms these lines are not anywhere near as far down or as bright, and the hilt is much plainer.   (If you're reading this Joe, I made this pretty blade for you.)
