Characteristics
Physical features
Silver Remington used to look like a
Human man in his humanoid form.
Abilities
Being a higher Vampire, Silver was inherently powerful, possessing his kin's common traits of supernatural strength and speed, the ability to assume human form, transforming into a cloud of mist, and being nearly immortal. This made him not only a dangerous opponent, but also nearly impossible to track down.
Silver can assume a monstrous form, in which lengthy claws grow from all ten digits of his front limb that can be used as weapons and large leather wings. These claws can easily cut through human bones. In this form he possess nightmarish abilities akin to
Magic; among them the ability to summon hordes of bats as weapons and conjuring ground traps seemingly made of blood.
Silver also had unique skills, such as an indomitable will that can force lesser vampires to assist him, something described as herd mentality.
Lair
Silver Remington possesses a lavish manor nestled within the Shadowfell. Once situated near the Shadar-kai settlement, the manor now stands isolated following the extermination of the Shadar-kai by Silver himself. Within its darkened halls, numerous intermediate vampires, such as bruxa and alp, have taken up residence. They dutifully serve the vampire lord when he is present, attending to his needs, or leisurely bask in the opulence of his wealth when he is engrossed in solitary study.
History
Council member
Silver Remington is a higher vampire serving as the administrator and economist of the Crimson Court. He is engaged to
Lenore Remington, a fellow higher vampire and diplomat. When adventurers
Rose Fancy,
Lalia Herbier, and
Aelsthim arrive in the Shadowfell, they bring with them cursed blades capable of killing even a higher vampire, bestowed by the
Archdevil Elise Kythera Zaavan.
Elise, desiring Silver's allegiance, tasks the adventurers with killing Lenore to disrupt Silver's life. Despite forming a bond with Lenore, the adventurers eventually betray and kill her using the cursed blade. Silver discovers Lenore's body and, devastated by her
Death, attempts to resurrect her but fails. Enraged and unaware of the adventurers' role in her death, Silver vows to eliminate all lycanthropes within the Crimson Court, whom he suspects of the murder.
Consumed by grief and rage, Silver's focus on vengeance blinds him to the adventurers' escape. His heartbreak and fury over Lenore's death highlight his deep love and commitment to her, as well as his significant role within the Crimson Court.
Infernal friend
After his wife's death and his annihilation of the lycanthropes of the Crimson Court domain, Silver fell into a deep and sorrowful mourning. An abyssal sadness consumed him. During this
Time, Elise approached the vampire, offering comfort and a helping hand. Over the years, Silver gradually learned to accept her support, and Elise was delighted to grow closer to him.
However, as Silver slowly began to live again, his love for his wife reignited with a fierce intensity. Resolving to bring her back from the depths of hell if necessary, he turned to his friend, Elise, for assistance.
Elise claimed it was beyond her power to resurrect the dead, nor was it within anyone's power. But Silver refused to accept that there was no
Magic or artifact strong enough to break the laws of the world and restore his wife to life.
Offering her help, Elise presented him with numerous contracts to grant him greater power. Under her influence, his castle became infused with the presence of devils, and Silver's strength grew beyond the limits of even the most powerful vampires.
Yet, Elise secretly ensured that his wife's soul remained beyond reach. She worked in the shadows to prevent any chance of his wife's resurrection, ensuring that she would be the only friend Silver could rely on, the only one left in his life.
Stolen artifact
Following the Great Cataclysm, Silver became fixated on the legendary Philosopher's Stone, a mystical artifact rumored to defy the laws of this world. For decades, even centuries, he scoured the realms in search of remnants of this elusive stone's creation.
Faced with repeated failure, Silver embarked on a perilous path to craft his own Philosopher's Stone. Implementing a plan involving the sacrifice of souls, he targeted the Shadar-kai, a group of elves residing in the Shadowfell. The near-extinction of the Shadar-kai yielded an incomplete Philosopher's Stone, prompting Silver to seek more drastic measures.
His ambition led him to collect artifacts capable of traversing the planes, intending to sacrifice the entire material plane to complete his Philosopher's Stone. This audacious scheme caught the attention of the Adventurers Guild, prompting a confrontation between Silver and a group of adventurers composed of
Flo Stormcry,
Hardah Halforcen,
Nesiven Rose. After tracking the vampire to his mansion in the Shadowfell, the adventurers confronted him.
To their surprise, the vampire greeted them politely and invited them to discuss the matter over a tasteful dinner. Introducing himself, he explained his plan: to create a
Philosopher Stone through the sacrifice of many souls. While acknowledging the adventurers as obstacles, he preferred negotiation over conflict, offering them wealth and protection if they allied with him.
Despite the tempting offer, the adventurers ultimately refused, leading to a confrontation with the higher vampire. Despite facing near-death encounters, Hardah managed to sever Silver's arm and use it to incapacitate him. Though vampires are notoriously resilient, this act ensured the world's temporary reprieve from Silver's machinations, as his memories may fade with each reincarnation, offering a glimmer of hope for the future.
Early Reincarnation
2 years after the fight against the adventurers who caused his demise, another group of adventurers, looking for this incomplete
Philosopher Stone, sought the answer of the very being who created it. And managed to gather the information on a ritual to reincarnate the vampire earlier in order to interogate him.
As the ritual unfolds, Demia Bose, supported by
Ginette's expertise in magic, takes charge while blood runes are traced on the floor and magic circles intertwine. Ginette assists in preparing the ritual ingredients and guides Demia through the intricate process. As the ritual progresses, a palpable weight settles in the air, and the atmosphere grows increasingly ominous.
Meanwhile, lower vampires gather at a distance, drawn by the presence of a higher vampire.
Breizh Ankil,
Rakon, and
Astriane stand vigilant, armed and prepared to fend off any approaching threats.
Suddenly, a cry of horror pierces the tense atmosphere as Demia's body begins to levitate, her form contorting unnaturally. She convulses in agony as her skin pales and her horns grow wider. The vampire's arm, used in the ritual grafts itself onto Demia's shoulder where she has lost an arm, and immense leathery wings unfurl from her back.
In a desperate attempt to intervene, Ginette tries to reach Demia but finds her efforts thwarted as her own blood begins to drain away upon contact. Rakon summons the power of the magical crown he is wearing, attempting to extract Demia with a hand of magma, but the ritual resists, forcing Demia back to the ground. A transformed voice emanates from Demia's lips, revealing the vampire's possession of her body.
The vampire introduces himself as Silver Remington, expressing gratitude to the adventurers for facilitating his reincarnation. However, his dissatisfaction with inhabiting a female body becomes evident, along with his sinister intentions.
The vampire exudes incredible strength. It seems to grow with each passing moment. Enraged by the vampire's callous disregard for Demia's existence, Ginette manages to restrain her fury, initiating an exchange. The adventurers demand for their friend back and the location of the incomplete philosopher's stone. Silver acknowledges their motive but his reincarnation has consumed Demia's soul, making any return totally impossible. He also warns of the toll exacted by reincarnation and the fragmentary nature of his memories, an excuse to not reveal the informations about the artifact.
As tensions escalate, the adventurers attacks, and silver leaps into the air and commanding lower vampires to join the fray. Despite their inferior strength, the sheer numbers pose a challenge, complicating the confrontation.
Rakon uses the hand of magma to rise up and confront the vampire with his divine powers, assisted by Astriane and her arrows, while breizh and ginette contain the onslaught of the lower vampires.
The hands that were once Demia's turn into long claws as Rakon approaches, leading to a furious fight in the air. Nevertheless, the vampires' regenerative abilities are impressive. A powerful smite from Rakon damages the vampire's wings, knocking him to the ground.
As the vampire collapses to the ground, Breizh swaps roles with Astriane, and pounces on the vampire, hoping to hold him down as Rakon dives from the sky to slash at him. Despite his regenerative abilities, the vampire has taken heavy damage.
His spells disrupted by Ginette, and his take-off attempts blocked by Breizh and Rakon, he decides to go after the most fragile, and pounces on Astriane and Ginette. Silver's sharp claws pierce Astriane's abdomen, and she falls to the ground unconscious.
This enrages the adventurers all the more, and Ginette manages to magically expel Silver before Rakon's magma hand captures him and Breizh sends the
Giant's hammer to crush the vampire's torso.
With Breizh maintaining relentless pressure on the vampire's torso, inflicting damage that tests the limits of his regeneration, Ginette rushes to Astriane's side to stabilize her injuries. As the vampire's endurance wanes under the constant torment, he finally relents, divulging the location of the philosopher's stone, albeit with the caveat that his presence is required to access it.
Determined to retrieve the artifact, the adventurers drag Silver Remington through his own mansion, his blood marking each step toward his office. Once inside, still under the adventurers' control, they pour his blood onto a crystal, triggering a crimson glow, revealing a small portal. Although initially wary, the adventurers cautiously inspect the portal and determine it to be safe.
Breizh lead one of his tentacles through the portal and successfully retrieve the incomplete philosopher's stone that Ginette takes and guard carefully.
With the artifact secured, the vampire's usefulness comes to an end. Despite the emotional complexity of the situation, compounded by Demia's body used as a vessel, the adventurers unanimously agree on the necessity of ending the va;pire life once again. Reflecting on Hardah's harrowing tale and the vampire's crimes against Demia, they deem his actions unforgivable.
In accordance with a ritual designed to prevent the vampire's swift reincarnation, the adventurers carry out his demise. Demia's body is honored with a solemn burial ceremony, her companions bidding farewell to their fallen comrade.
