Rayna of Holypertuis

Rayna is a skilled infiltrator with a fierce temper, deeply loyal to the Magpies, her thieves' guild. Despite her mistrust of others and obsession with wealth, she strives for a better life. She is known for her cunning, resourcefulness, and occasional violent reactions to threats against her guild.   Orphaned in Holypertuis, Rayna survived by joining the Magpies, who trained her as a pickpocket and thief. Over Time, she rose within the guild's ranks, navigating its politics and honing her skills. Though she often engages in theft for survival and leisure, Rayna has become a vital figure in the guild.   Rayna pursued rumors of immense wealth in the Afterlife Casino, located in the Seven Hells. Her investigation led her to Megan of Galeo, who held knowledge of a gateway to Luxuria, the casino’s location. By infiltrating the casino and coercing the con artist Lucianos Morningstar into helping her, Rayna obtained critical tools for her heist: the casino owner’s seal and the vault password. This set the stage for her bold plan to plunder the vault’s riches.

Mental traits

Though she has trouble trusting in others as well as an obsession with gold and its acquisition, she still strves to improve her station, believing herself deserving of a better life regardless of her penchant for unlawful activities.   Rayna is one of the Magpies' best infiltrators, with a fierce temper to match. She is affectionately known as "our little Rayna". Rayna is utterly loyal to the Magpies and will react violently to any threat or insult to it.  

History

Rayna, orphaned at a young age, was forced to fend for herself on the streets of Holypertuis. She was barely scraping by when she was fortunately taken under the wing of the Magpies.   Over the years, they taught her the tricks to being a thief and a pickpocket, to which she swiftly grew an affinity for. She was caught a few times, and had spent months in prison until, a conflict caused important position within the thief guild to shift, and Rayna became an important member of the organization.   She has since been enduring the internal struggle and politics of the guild, employing her sticky fingers for coins during her free time so she can eat and occasionally have some fun, especially fun involving drinks and ladies of the night.  

Hellish Heist

1136 AD   Tipped off by a prominent merchant in Holypertuis, Rayna learned about a location within the Seven Hells known as the Afterlife Casino. Rumored to hold a vault brimming with gold and magical treasures, it piqued her interest.   Determined to uncover the truth, she began her investigation. Her leads pointed her toward Megan of Galeo, an officer notorious for her gambling addiction, with whom Rayna had crossed paths in the past during various dealings. Megan was said to know of a gateway to the Basalt Citadel in Luxuria, the first layer of the Seven Hells.   By shadowing Megan, Rayna gained access to the infamous casino. On subsequent visits, she familiarized herself with its structure and layout, carefully planning her next move. During her final reconnaissance, she encountered Lucianos Morningstar, a charming con artist posing as a noble from the Brownoak family.   Recognizing his scam, Rayna turned the tables, blackmailing him into assisting her. Under her pressure, Lucianos procured the casino owner Verity Togglepocket’s seal and provided the password to the vault—valuable tools that set Rayna’s daring plan into motion.
