Kingdom of Eldrida

The kingdom of Eldrida was once a powerful and prosperous realm, where Magic was strictly banned and heavily regulated by the ruling monarchy. The use of magic was seen as a threat to the kingdom's stability and security, and those caught practicing it were punished severely.   But all that changed with the Nexus Overflow. The sudden increase in magical energy caused a shift in the balance of power, as those who once had no access to magic now wielded great power. Riots and civil war broke out as different factions fought for control of the kingdom.   The monarchy, unable to control the chaos, was eventually overthrown and the kingdom of Eldrida fell into ruin. Some say that the kingdom's downfall was caused by their fear and mistrust of magic, while others believe that it was the greed and ambition of those who sought to control the newfound magical power that ultimately led to the kingdom's destruction.   The nexus overflow ultimately changed the political and social landscape of the world and many ancient kingdoms, like Eldrida, fell because of it. Now, the use of magic is far more common and accepted, but the memory of Eldrida serves as a cautionary tale of the dangers of suppressing and misunderstanding the power of magic.

Government

The kingdom of Eldira was ruled by a monarchy, with a king or queen as the head of state. The monarchy was supported by a powerful noble class, made up of landed lords and ladies who held significant power and influence in the kingdom. The government of Eldira was highly centralized, with the king or queen holding the ultimate authority in all matters of state.   The kingdom also had a strong and organized military, which helped to maintain order and defend the kingdom's borders. The military was controlled by the king or queen, and was made up of both professional soldiers and conscripted peasants.   In terms of law and order, Eldira had a well-developed system of courts and legal procedures, with a hierarchy of judges and magistrates responsible for upholding the law. Punishments for crimes were severe, and included fines, imprisonment, and even execution for the most serious offenses.   The kingdom of Eldira was also known for its strict laws regarding the use of magic. The use of magic was heavily regulated, and only a select few individuals were allowed to practice magic, such as the king and queen, and certain members of the noble class. The common people were forbidden from using magic, and any violations of this law were punished severely.   After the Nexus overflow, those laws became impossible to enforce, and the kingdom was not able to adapt to the new reality, leading to its fall.

Culture

to play with a dragon is to play a losing game
Eldira was a highly structured and traditional society, with a strong emphasis on hierarchy and order. The ruling class, made up of wealthy landholders and powerful merchants, held a great deal of influence over the government and legal system. The common people, on the other hand, were largely relegated to a subordinate role, with little say in the running of the kingdom.   In terms of culture, Eldira was heavily influenced by the beliefs and customs of its ruling class. The arts and literature of the time reflected the values and aspirations of the ruling elite, with a focus on heroism, honor, and duty. Religion played a significant role in Eldira's culture as well, with the worship of a pantheon of gods and goddesses who were believed to have a hand in the affairs of the kingdom.   As for magic, it was heavily regulated and only allowed to be used by the ruling class and the high priest of the kingdom. Magic was seen as a powerful tool that could be used for both good and evil, and as such, it was closely monitored by the government and the legal system. Those who were caught using magic without permission were punished severely, with punishments ranging from fines to imprisonment and even execution.

Justice

In the kingdom of Eldira, the use of magic was heavily regulated and only allowed for certain individuals, such as the royal family and their appointed court wizards. The use of magic outside of these designated individuals was strictly forbidden and punishable by imprisonment or execution. The kingdom's legal system was designed to enforce these laws, with specialized courts and judges trained to deal with magical crimes.   The punishment for breaking the laws surrounding magic varied depending on the severity of the crime. Minor infractions, such as practicing magic without proper authorization, were punishable by imprisonment. More serious crimes, such as using magic to harm others or attempting to overthrow the kingdom, were punishable by death.   The kingdom's legal system also had a system of informants and spies, tasked with finding and reporting those who were breaking the laws on magic. This led to a culture of fear and mistrust, as citizens lived in constant fear of being reported for practicing magic.   The kingdom's harsh stance on magic ultimately led to its downfall, as the influx of magic from the Nexus Overflow caused widespread riots and civil war. Many saw the strict laws as oppressive and unjust, and the kingdom's inability to adapt to the changing magical landscape ultimately led to its collapse.

  5. Non-draconic residents must respect the cultural and traditional practices of dragons, and any actions that violate or disrespect these practices will be met with severe punishment.

Economy

Eldira's economy was based on agriculture and trade. They had a strong system of bartering and trading goods with neighboring kingdoms and city-states. They also had a guild system in place, where different craftsmen and merchants would come together to regulate prices and ensure fair trade. However, with the ban on magic, the use of magic to enhance agriculture or industry was strictly prohibited, limiting the kingdom's potential for growth in those areas. Additionally, any use of magic in trade or commerce was heavily punished, leading to a lack of innovation and progress in the economy after the nexus overflow.

History

The kingdom of Eldira was ruled by a Dragon king for centuries. The dragon believed that mere mortals, such as humans, were not worthy of magic and strictly regulated its use, even banning it for all but a select few who were able to wield it. However, over time, the dragon king grew bored of his kingdom and eventually passed leadership down to his mixed-blood dragon-human son. The dragon king's departure left a power vacuum, that the new heir could barely stop.   The kingdom of Eldira, under the rule of the dragon king's mixed blood heir, continued to heavily regulate and ban the use of magic within its borders. This policy was upheld for several generations, with the dragon blooded ruling class maintaining their power and control over the kingdom through a strict caste system and strict laws against the use of magic. However, as time passed and the kingdom became more entrenched in its ways, the people began to grow discontent with the lack of progress and opportunities.

neighbors claim

The Orrin Empire was thrown into turmoil when the infamous Blood Emperor seized power as the 3rd successor to the throne. He was never meant to wear the crown, but he ruthlessly eliminated his siblings to claim it by force. During his coronation in 3093 BD, he placed the blood-stained crown upon his own head, a grim display of his brutal rise to power.   News of the Blood Emperor's ascension spread, causing ELdrida to seize this opportunity to take over the empire, questioning the legitimacy of Orrin's claim on their lands. Launching and attack on the empire and sparking an intense conflict known as the 8 Year War. This war lasted for 8 years, during which the Orrin Empire managed to conquer parts of Eldrida's kingdom.

Collapse

As the kingdom's economy stagnated and the people grew increasingly oppressed, rumors began to spread of a legendary island called Coldarra that was said to be the source of all magic in Toriel. Many began to see the kingdom's strict laws against magic as a hindrance to their prosperity and began to secretly seek out Coldarra in the hopes of gaining access to its magical power.   Adelbern was an heir of king Duric, the half dragon and inheritor of the first Dragon King and the ruler of the Kingdom of Eldrida. During a time when magic was rare, the kingdom oppressed spellcasters. However, the balance of power shifted dramatically when the Nexus Overflow occurred, leading to an uncontrollable civil war that ultimately led to the kingdom's self-destruction.   In 3042 BD, Adelbern plunged his sword into the ground, channeling the power of an artifact to spread his will and unleash a curse known as the Foefire upon the land. The Foefire was a desperate act by Adelbern as revolutionary forces were storming the capital city. Although a group of infiltrators from the revolution had intended to kill Adelbern, they instead encountered his servant, Savione, who warned them of the king's madness and his plan. Despite the warning, the revolution proceeded with their attack. The capital city was overrun, and as soldiers attempted to retreat, Adelbern unleashed the Foefire. The result was the death of the revolutionaries and the complete annihilation of every human in the city. Their bodies were destroyed, and their souls were cursed to forever "protect" the land, perceiving any living being as a threat and constantly reforming themselves after destruction.   Adelbern's decision to not only eliminate the revolutionaries but also to curse the land itself was a fateful and horrifying choice. He chose to sacrifice his own people rather than let them escape. This curse consumed Adelbern's soul, transforming him into an arch wraith, and turning the capital city into a realm of darkness known as a Domain of Dread.
