Isaac Hemsworth

Characteristics

Physical features

the man’s frame is bone-thin, and he wears a style of clothing indicating a wealth equal to that of a well-to-do aristocrat: a brown, painstakingly woven vest over a long-sleeved white shirt of expensive cloth, fine trousers, and well-polished leather shoes. Across the top of a nearby chair, you also spy a neatly folded frock coat, upon which leans a simple, hand-carved wooden cane. His hair is cut at a medium length, with gray streaks at his temples standing out from his brown hair.
A deep scar leading down from his left shoulder.

Mental traits

Isaac, once a kind-hearted man with a tendency towards cowardice, underwent a drastic transformation during his decades stuck in the Shadowfell. He emerged from the experience grim, paranoid, and even more cowardly than before, with his constant paranoia overshadowing any other emotion.

History

Isaac is the son of a noble family who gained early access to the ranks of the Enchantment School of Holypertuis. As a third-year student nearing the end of his studies, Isaac was given the opportunity to join an expedition with a group of magicians and researchers from the Academy of Magic. This expedition, conducted in the Shadowfell, aimed to study the effects of the plane on the human mind.
During one of their expeditions, a woman appeared and approached the researchers. They assisted her, and Isaac quickly befriended her. Her presence in this plane was unusual, yet he welcomed this new companion with kindness as he had someone new to converse with.
The two became friends, until a group of inferior vampires attacked the party. Scared and ambushed, the magicians struggled to use their spells effectively and were doomed to die. It was then that the woman revealed herself as an Alp, an intermediate vampire, her sharp claws appearing as she moved with incredible speed, driving the smaller vampires away.
This revelation horrified Isaac, as the woman he had befriended turned out to be a monster worse than those who attacked them. Disgusted, Isaac confronted her, and in response, she lashed out in fury, killing every member of the expedition except for Isaac, whom she left alone in the Shadowfell.
With his comrades dead, Isaac found himself unable to return to the material plane. Consumed by sorrow and paranoia, he became convinced that it was all part of the evil vampire's plan. Determined to make her suffer as long as he was trapped there, he fortified an old tower with magical traps, creating baits and lures to ensnare the vampire. He forced all living creatures to flee, starving her, and remained in his tower out of paranoia, never venturing outside.
Years later, a group of adventurers arrived at his tower, claiming they had a scroll allowing them to teleport through the planes. Seeing an opportunity to escape the Shadowfell, Isaac emerged from his tower to greet the adventurers. However, he was shocked to discover that they were allied with the vampire, who had disguised herself as a human woman once again.
The vampire attacked him, and in his already wounded state, Isaac believed the adventurers were on her side. During the ensuing fight, he leaped at Demia Bose, stealing her scroll and using the spell to return to the material plane.
Upon his return to the Enchantment School, many had forgotten about the expedition that had disappeared over a decade ago. Healed from his wounds, Isaac's expertise in traps and spells earned him the title of teacher. He now teaches an optional course on glyphs, runes, and traps at the Enchantment School.
