Emilis Emka

Emilis Emka is a scientist an spellcaster, she is also the only known autognome to have transferred her consciousness rather than becoming sentient thanks to the Wizardwood present in the autognome's construction.

History

Emilis wasn’t always pragmatic. Her philosophies on life were at one time buoyant. But while watching her entire family get slaughtered in the Blood War taught her that, for others, life was cheap and meaningless—a lesson that chaffed her innocence. She retreated for years into seclusion to study a better way; to fully understand how gnome-kind could live better lives, without fear of conflict and death.   What she found instead was the secret to immortality. Her magical studies started in earnest. She began by studying the building blocks of Magic. Within a few years, she was ready for more. Emilis built tiny magical constructs—a beetle that would fly at tremendous speed, or a magical cat that never needed to sleep. As she became more skilled, her focus turned to Necromancy and the unlife that could produce eternal life.   Over the years, her studies grew more complex. But unlike a typical wizard, she had no interest for magic that didn’t serve her purposes.   Experimenting on dead newborn, trying to achieve resurection, to create a new form of life. an experience that was successful on a fateful night, a group of adventurers bringing the fresh body of Nessarya Jenssen to the scientist in an attempt to resurest her. Emilis' experience so far always failed, but hoping for the god's mercy, the adventurers gave everything they had to try and save her. The experience turned the house into a fire hazard, blasting everyone away, but Nessarya Jenssen was brought back to life.   Her next successful experiement led to the creation of a new species, the Simic Hybrid. Now able to resurect dead babies, she started to augment them, to add animal like features to the babies in order to transform them into something better, something that could survive the horror of war.   Emilis then started her last project. Building a golem from wizardwood, steel, and stone, Emilis constructed a place for her soul to live on forever. The process of building the golem took many years. Apprehension and a need for perfection led Emilis to take her time, all the while secondguessing her efforts. Progress was painfully slow. Every step forward, it seemed, led to two steps backward.   Not trusting others, Emilis had to perform the ritual of her immortality alone. She knew her body would become useless as her soul was transported into the golem, therefore she needed to do the ritual somewhere her body would not be desecrated. She found an ancient tomb that was unused for centuries, and brought in all necessary materials to complete the transfer. This process, too, took nearly a year of preparation as she over-thought her own decisions.   In the end, Emilis spent several weeks alone planning her ‘suicide.’ Despite everything, bringing herself to commit the final act and becoming an Autognome took a great deal of willpower.
