Blood War Military Conflict in Toriel | World Anvil

Blood War

The blood war is an ongoing conflict opposing the Ice-peak Concord and the Lightfoot Kingdom. The Dwarf armed forces stand by for a potential assault, potential revenge from the time they marched south. Therefore, crossing the border requires authorization and motive, as well as detailed inspection, as both nations want to avoid spies and terrorists.   This war, called the War of Blood, is unlikely to end officially until the death of the Dwarf King Trone Frozen, and the Queen of Lightfoot kingdom Tulia Greyhard. And this is because, both father and daughter are incredibly stubborn, neither will give in or admit to any past wrongdoing.

History

Origin

Indeed, the current war is due to the birth of Tulia Greyhardd, daughter of Frozen Trone, and Leana Greyhard. The union of the representatives of the two nations did not seal a lasting union but was the spark of a war to come.   The king Trone Frozen, had to fight for years to be allowed to marry, but the marriage was short-lived, as young Tulia's mother died in childbirth. With the death of their queen, the people of Lightfoot Kingdom claimed the child's right of succession, but the dwarves refused to let the child take the throne.   Nevertheless, the child managed to return to her mother's land, rising tensions between the two nations. Each claimed the girl as part of their royalty. The mixed-blooded child, inheriting her father's character, decided to take what was due to her and ascended to the throne. The target of multiple kidnapping attempts, she stood strong, and accessed the power, becoming the queen.

The War

The war began, as dwarf armies swept through the southern lands, unleashing the fury of their nation on all who crossed their path. The dwarven armies were equipped to face the dragons, the simple Halflings, Gnomes, and Verdans were no real threat. The Lightfoot Kingdom forces gathered in the north, stopping the invasion as best they could, suffering many casualties, while the dwarves, though stymied, suffered few deaths. But the problem was the endurance of the locals. Defending their land, every soldier that fell was replaced, while the dwarves were tired of the fighting.
The Lightfoot Kingdom Military Service Act: All able-bodied citizens of the Lightfoot Kingdom, aged 18 to 25, shall be required to serve a period of 2 years in the military. Failure to comply with this law shall result in fines and potential imprisonment. Exemptions may be granted for reasons of health or for those needed for the support of dependents.
A new law appeared in the Lightfoot Kingdom, making obligatory a period of 2 years serving the army was created and applied. And the population eager to defend their land were not demoralized. The inventions of the gnomes finally been put to use, the war changed when canons were introduced, their use, still limited, was the proof of Lightfoot kingdom military power as the adamantium armor of the dwarves began to fail.   With the balance of power, a temporary non-aggression pact was signed. To this day, the pact is still valid, and both countries, while extremely cautious when dealing with each other, stopped fighting.
Temporary Non-Aggression Pact between the Lightfoot Kingdom and the Ice-Peak Concord:   The Lightfoot Kingdom and the Ice-Peak Concord, hereinafter referred to as the "Signatories," hereby agree to a temporary cessation of hostilities and a pledge of non-aggression towards each other.
  1. The Signatories agree to refrain from any acts of aggression, including but not limited to, acts of war, invasion, and acts of sabotage against the other Signatory's territory, people, and resources.
  2. The Signatories agree to refrain from providing support, including but not limited to, financial, military, and logistical support, to any third party engaged in hostilities against the other Signatory.
  3. The Signatories agree to engage in peaceful negotiations and diplomatic efforts to resolve any disputes that may arise between them.
  4. The Signatories agree that this pact shall remain in effect untiil the end of Tulia Greyhard reign, after which it may be renewed or terminated by mutual agreement.
  5. The Signatories agree that this pact is binding and any violation of its terms shall be considered a breach of law and may result in the termination of the pact.
This pact is signed in good faith and in the interest of maintaining a balance of power between the Lightfoot Kingdom and the Ice-Peak Concord, in order to ensure peace and stability in the region.   Signed by:

The Battle of Hathorth

Vandergrift, , was the general of House Frozen dwarvish forces in the blood war opposing the ice-peak concord and the halfling kingdom.   During that war, King Trone's troops, crossed the mountains marching to the lightfoot land the third day after the autumn equinox. THe lightfoot kinngdom, led by Seltkirk, had good spies however so they were ready for the dwarves whom they proceeded to annihilate.   Vandergrift cut Seltkirk off from the rest of his army. The two met in the middle of the melee. It was a battle of titans. In the end, the Vandergrift hacked Seltkirk and sliced the knight from his head to his groin. A terrible death that sent the lightfoot ranks into disarray.   During the battle, Vandergrift's long simmering disdain of Magic came to a head and the general argued with the war-mage bitterly which led the casters to retaliate by summoning Mfire and causing balls of fire to rain down on the dwarven troops and lightfoot kingdom combatants alike.   Earlier, in peacetime, Seltkirk and Vandergrift had met at a tournament. Seltkirk won then. Vandergrift's hammer cracked and Vandergrift had to yield. In response, Vandergrift had the smith who had forged the hammer hanged, and commissioned a new warhammer forged by the best smiths and mages in house frozen. He named this new sword "hathorth", meaning "hatred" in dwarvish, and continued to wield this warhammer until his death on the battlefield, where he was one of the approximately 3,000 soldiers burned to death by the war-mage's fireballs.
