Darion Mograine Character in Toriel | World Anvil

Darion Mograine

Darion Mograine was a templar of the Church of Waukeen, and an important member of the church, however, after a grievous wound, Darion decided to follow Bahamut and to become a knight of the Order of the Griffin, believing the order's goals were closer to his ideal of justice.
Son of Alexandros Mograine, one of the former marshal of the church, Darion is a paladin serving Bahamut.

History

On the day of Darion's birth, he was stillborn. His father Alexandros, in a hurry, rushed the baby to a nearby stream, and from the freezing water, Darion Mograine entered the world. However, the joy his father felt quickly turned to grief as his wife and mother of his children, Elena, died due to complications from the birth. With Renault, Darion secretly attended their father's meeting with the members of the church of Waukeen.
Along with his brother, he joined the church of Waukeen at a relatively young age. In a battle against ghouls overtaking a cemetery outside of Mirage, young Darion insisted on fighting, he took a serious wound and fell unconscious for a day. Upon awakening, the boy described his experience as being surrounded by darkness, before being shown a light that he followed back to life.
This light was not that of Waukeen, but that of Bahamut. As Darion grew among the church of Waukeen, he realized the church's missions were far from his ideal, an ideal of justice and righteousness, something Bahamut could provide. He joined the order of the griffin and swore an oath to Bahamut, becoming his paladin.
