Mirage

Mirage, closer to a large town than a city, is fairly spread out around a harbor core. The large town is within the Roaring plains and is quite an important location among those plains thanks to its harbor.

Geography

Mirage is a port city, located on the shores of Loch Hermes. Few ships use this part of the sea to trade, and most of the exchanges are made directly with City upper north in Tana's Empire, tho a few times per year, rare ships do the large round trip and come from the south. The city is built on a large plain and is quite flat.

Description

Mirage is the cultural heart of the duchy of Buchais, it is the nexus of politics, justice, industry and education within the duchy. The city proper is surrounded by large, 30 foot-high, protection walls that stretches around the city from the eastern fields to the western shore and slowly disappear as they sink into the ocean.   Dense fields of farmland surround the city, which spills beyond the walls around the gates to the east, north and south.   Within the walls, the districts are further divided by smaller walls. Winding their way across the city are a series of canals called the Helicos' Waterways that allow for faster travel and transportation of goods throughout the city.

Pelor's Promenade

Pelor's Promenade is the large, open-air market district that dominates the eastern side of Mirage. The district is named for Pelor, as one of his cleric is said to have said the city from the monsters in eons past. With carts, stands, and shops stretching along winding interconnected roads, nearly anything can be bought and sold here.
  • Laughing Lamia Inn: A large, four-story inn.
  • Anvilgate: An establishment dedicated to metalworking.
  • Azalea Street Park: This peaceful park within one of Mirage's oldest neighborhoods overlooks the Helicos' Waterways. A statue of Achille stands in a fountain in the center of the park. Adventurers often come to the park to relax and swap stories.
  • Promenade gallow.

Central District

The Central District is the largest residential disctrict in Mirage. Most of Mirage's merchant class lives within this district. Peppered throughout the tightly packed neighborhoods are guildhalls, grassy parks, and taverns, inns, and restaurants.

Noble District

Crowning the center of Mirage is the Noble District, home to the city's nobility. Surrounded by a 30-foot-high wall acting as a secondary line of defense, the disrtict is only accessible through a series of gates: Only noble (with a title to prove themselves) can go in and out of the district, and the gates close after sunset at reopen at dawn.   Hambone's Cafe: A tavern repurposed as a cafe for higher paying customer

Temple District

The Temple District is located on the northern side of Mirage and acts as its religious center, with many temples dedicated to Human or Common Deities. The largest cathedral in the district is that of Waukeen, though there are smaller temples to Bahamut, Achille, Pelor and Alexstraza.
  • Temple of the Void: A large temple dedicated to Kur is at the center of the disctrict.
  • Vanumoke Ring: A fighting arena located with the Temple of Vanumoke.

Erudite Quarter

The Erudite Quarter, located at the southeastern side of Mirage, is the center for higher education. The district is home to many towers, colleges and student housing.

Port of Mirage

The Port of Mirage encompasses the western shore of the city, the canals of the Helicos' Waterway begin here. Dozens of ships fill the port at any given time, carrying goods to and from the other districts of the city, primarily the markets of Pelor's Promenade.
  • Black Bastille: The city's prison.
  • Diamond Nest Tavern: A tavern that caters to the working class of the district.
  • Illusion School: A magic school on a lone island 100m from the coast.

Westgate Farms

The Westgate Farms are located outside the western walls of the city and are a stretch of farmlands. Farmers here specialize in product that grow in hot climate and saltwater-rich-soil, including quartet gourds and the hard-to-grow brineroot.
  • The Third Wing: An inn run by a married goliath couple.
