Alton Goodbarrel

Alton Goodbarrel was a member of the great council, the highest political power after the queen, and represented Science and education. Alton was also a noble and a prominent scientist. In 1133 AD it was revealed that Alton worked with a Beholder, Zarzwik, hidden under the city's castle, and because of that, he was banned from the kingdom and stripped from his titles.

History

Alton Goodbarrel is the firstborn and heir of the goodbarrel noble family and was taught the basics of politics early on. Destined to be part of the great council when he was only a teen, Alton had to follow strict education. In addition to his political training, Alton had a passion for science and Magic, with a fascination for aberration, those beings that exist when they shouldn't.   Quickly enough, the young Halfling accessed a position in the great council, and free from his tutoring, could dedicate more of his time to his experimentation. Those experiences led him to understand the city was under the influence of an abomination, a many-eyed creature generally referenced as a beholder. Quickly, Alton managed to contact the beholder, learning of his name, Zarzwik, he grew fascinated by the monster.   Zarzwik on the other hand saw Alton as a tool to use, a mortal easy to manipulate to get a better grasp on the country's politics. Before the halfling could realize it, Zarzwik power lingered in the halfling's mind, corrupting him, and creating a desire for power the halfling lacked before. And under the beholder influence, Alton started to plot against the Queen Tulia Greyhard.   It is not known how much time was spent like this before a group of adventurers intervened. A commission sent from Tana's Empire, escorted by famous adventurers arrived in the capital city. Quickly, the adventuring group realized something was off, and learned of arzwik presence. It is only after defeating the monster that they understood Alton's implication, and despite the death of the monster, his mind had already been corrupted.   Alton sent an assassin again Nessarya Jenssen, killing her, and started to move in order to create chaos in which he could take over the throne. Thankfully, the adventurer resurrected Nessarya, and brought Alton in front of the justice. The following trial recognized him guilty of certain crimes, and Alton was banned from the Lightfoot Kingdom. The adventurers were also condemned for some of their shadier actions to a similar fate.
