  • The Borderlands
These are lands where the great tide of an empire has drawn back, leaving its old provinces to fend for themselves but still trying to hold its ancient grip upon them. Unlike the Ivory Duchies to the east, the Borderlands are not enjoying a period of relative peace.   It is an eternal truth that gaps left by the slow retreat of a decaying and decadent civilization are inevitably filled; either by young and vigorous new civilizations rising to offer new hopes and aspirations, or by a self-devouring maelstrom of war, pillage, plague, and barbarism. Such times are the knife-edges of history, where the deeds of heroes may shift the course of entire kingdoms. They are times of struggle and fear, times of desperation and wild hopes, times when legends are made. And these times have arrived
  • Black Sail Coast
Northwest Lados, generally referred to as The North or the Black Sail Coast, is a region of wilderness, difficult winter weather, humanoid hordes, and barbarian tribes. It is a mostly untamed region that lies west of the Anauroch and north of the High Moor. The inhabitants of areas further south, in the Borderlands region of west Lados, describe this area in condescension as "the Savage North," which is a reference to a time when its inhabitants were less civilized. In spite of this reputation, the region is home to one of the greatest cities in all of Torar: Sendrellar, the Academy of Arcane Sciences.
  • Lyre Valley
Westden rests in the center of the great Lyre Valley. At the northern end of the Lyre Valley, the land rises into the forested foothills of the Jotunhav Range Mountains. Therein lies hidden the lost Valley of the Shrines and the enigmatic Forest Kingdoms of the elves, and beyond them the infamous Stoneheart Mountain Dungeon.   Situated throughout the Lyre Valley are various places for intrepid heroes to explore. The Citadel of Griffins and the Citadel of Ravens sit atop hills within view of the city proper. Nestled nearer to the city along the eastern slopes of the valley lies the great Vinewood estate and winery. The southwestern edge of the valley is broader and more gradual, opening to the tumultuous Borderlands, and to the southeast of the town is the rough-and-tumble, ever-changing Tent City. Several wilderness outposts also dot the Black Road connecting the cities of Kintalla and Sendrellar here, at Westden.
  • Emerald Lands
The Emerald Lands, or “Rokugan” in the tongue of its people, comprise a vast, majestic countryside that stretches nine hundred miles from the pine valleys and snow-capped peaks of the Great Wall of the North mountains at one end, to the austere Carpenter Wall standing vigil along the country’s desolate southern border. Beyond the Wall lies the Unsealed Lands, a blighted land tainted by the influence of Hell itself, and dangerous for even the most legendary heroes to step foot within. At its widest point, Rokugan measures six hundred miles, from the Atlantean Sea in the east to the Pale Sea in the west. Within its borders, bountiful plains ripple gold in the sunlight, and primordial forests hide mysterious spirits and dangerous creatures. Each of the seven Great Clans presides over a different corner of the Empire, protecting the natural harmony of the land and the kami that dwell there.
