Bloodsteel

If I didn't know better - and sometimes, I wonder if I do - I would say that lánimii was made from the blood of elves. Maybe it's the blood of gods instead.
— Siipám Lolitetii
Lánimii, more commonly known as Bloodsteel, is a rare metal found in eastern Abravost. Found only in regions with historic ties to the Kailkoseltii people, it is not native to Tiyu Amara.

Properties

In its ore form, Bloodsteel is predominantly found on the eastern side of the Krenar Mountains. When smelted into ingots, bloodsteel is a deep red, with a slight iridescence. This metal is highly malleable, and can be used for many purposes ranging from armour to weapon to tools.   While being similar in strength to iron, it lacks iron's magic nullifying properties, making it more useful for mages and those who rely on magic for their jobs. It is also very susceptible to magical infusion, allowing it to store spells and magical effects.

History

Lánimii is not native to Tiyu Amara. Rather it is native to the elven world of Tiyu Noha, specifically the region controlled by Nousetl Meyámii, a prominent Kailkoseltii kingdom. Like most things related to that kingdom and the world it was part of, it came through during the devastating Collision of the two worlds. As Nousetl Meyámii was mostly scattered around eastern Abravost, it was there that most of the metal appeared.   Already a rare resource, bloodsteel became very scarce following the Collision, with most of the metal being in the form of weapons and tools. Some larger deposits have been found in the Krenar Mountains, especially around Chalsei Kóshoil, but by far the largest deposits are found on the distant City Islands. Despite the seeming abundance of the resource there, the Territorial Government forbids any kind of mining or extraction, effectively halving the amount of the metal available in Tiyu Amara.   Some bloodsteel ingots did come from Tiyu Noha during the time that Portals were active which connected the two worlds, but it was more common for artifacts made with that metal to go back to Tiyu Noha. As such, when the portals all broke during The Separation, more bloodsteel was lost.

Ceremonial Blades

One of the most commonly found items made with bloodsteel are ceremonial swords. Originating in Nousetl Meyámii, these blades are made by and for nobility and royalty as a sign of their wealth and power. These swords are very ornately crafted and often adorned with other precious metals and gemstones, as well as being infused with magic.   The most famous sword of this type is one that belonged to a King of Nousetl Meyámii, who gifted it to one of his bodyguards after said guard saved his life. This sword remained in the guards family for generations and was the finest ever crafted. Unfortunately, it was lost during the Collision.
