The Tables of the Fae High Council call to those amongst the council who embody an element of that season. Whether it be youth for the
Spring table, passion for the
Summer table, experience for the
Autumn table, or pain for the winter table, a council member cannot refuse the call of their seat anymore than they could refuse the air filling their lungs.
The Protector of the Veil
The Protector of the Veil, whose true name is Morgala Laufey, sits at the table of winter and maintains extraplanar security throughout the Feywild. The Protector monitors any and all gateways between the Feywild and other planes of existence, a serious responsibility after the events of the Shadowfell/Feywild war. The Protector rose to the ranks of the high council following exceptional service during wartime, where she showed great prowess for battle, protection, and strategy as well as a cold determination and ruthless nature that was praised by her commanders.
Like the season in which she sits, the Protector is cold, harsh, and unforgiving. Unauthorized planar travel is very frowned upon, and many denizens of the Feywild avoid it so as not to incur the horrible wrath of the Protector. When her own Daughter,
Magnolia, disobeyed her direct instruction to never venture into other planes, the Protector cursed her. Magnolia was turned into a monster and banished to the material plane where she has been bound for centuries. The Protector charged her daughter with eternal guardianship of the secret portal that lies int the eastern swamplands of Kauvet and allows passage to the Feywild.
The Mother of Changelings
An 8 foot tall, evershifting being of such indescribable beauty that all who look upon her risk losing their sanity as a result,
The Mother of Changelings is a force to be reckoned with. Fortunately, her tablemates,
The Horned Queen and
The Protector of the Veil, are immune to her dangerous beguilement - the Protector because her rigid nature has closed her off from being influenced by such trivialities as beauty and the Queen because she has only eyes for the Raven Queen.
While not literally the mother of all changelings, she has been considered their matriarch for much of time. Her true name is Aina Bellempre Cambiante and she is the wife of
Jaxt. The Horned Queen and the Matriarch have a traidition of going out after council meetings to sip wine and talk shit about the rest of the council. The matriarch will also often host 'ice dinner parties.'
The Horned Queen
A legendary fighter and prolific leader,
The Horned Queen is a formidable figure in court. Her true name, Papillia Lamort (which loosely translates to 'butterfly of death'), is known only to The Raven Queen, ruler of the Shadowfell, with whom she has a complicated romantic entanglement. The Horned Queen was the first member of the council featured in a TA game when she appeared in
Lost at Sea.
