Lost at Sea is a non-fiction one-shot ran by Brayden (he/they).

PCs

Synopsis

"As the SS Steamqueen rocks on the open sea we find a collective of people gathered on deck, amongst them is world famous detective Hagatha Crispie and as she’s about to announce the scoundrel behind the theft of Jewel Heiress Bella Daball’s enchanted diamond necklace, the ship begins to rock and shake before erupting into a cataclysmic ball of furious flame, the fates of many onboard unknown, but we aren’t here to solve a mystery, no, we are here to follow the unconscious bodies that drift to the nearby island."   The party awakens and is then chased up off the beach and into the nearby foggy forest by hundreds of crabs. Assorted strange happenings occur in the fog as the party is separated before ultimately reuniting just in time to exit the fog right before a towering mountain. They encounter Feywild Fog, which in later games is revealed to be Boreal Gael of the Wild Winds, as well as an unnamed Shadowfell Fog. Additionally, they catch glimpses of The Horned Queen, a member of the Fey Court. Liz manages to piss off both the Raven Queen and the Horned Queen throughout the fog endeavors, and it's revealed that Shadowfell bears are Vampires bears, and Feywild bears are pink and explode in glitter when killed.   The party goes through a tunnel in the mountain, and rest in a cave with a skeleton half merged into a wall. They exit the tunnel on the far side and enter the sad Shadowfell fog, fight some bears, and make it to the other side of the island where there’s a staffboat (like a fan boat but with a magic staff) waiting to free them from the island, only it’s missing the magical gem to power it so they search the lone nearby cabin.   In the cabin they find the gem they were looking for as well as a book open on a table that seems to show a weird Franken-steining of spells, some planeshift, some planar binding, that show someone’s trying to shift planes into one another and bind them like that. They also find charred scraps of a letter assuring someone named Doz that someone who was ‘getting too close’ will be on a ship and that said ship has been ‘taken’ care of, the plans of the SS. Steamqueen with a rune next to it (which is a glyph of warding holding a fireball), a map of Kauvet with a bunch of X’s and labels on it, indicating the locations of the whereabouts of many warforged, and a calender marking today as “chess day w/ Baron Strika”. Notably, the location map of warforged has a giant circle along the east coast of the map, a little ways off into the water, that is marked with "NOT LIKE US".   The Party grab all these things and escape on the staffboat.

Trivia

  • Brayden had created a visual of the map that they find in the cabin, seen here.
