Synal Mountains

The mountain range that surrounds the west and south edges of the Narval Desert, casting a huge rain shadow over the land that helped create the desert. The Pteradactyl Training Facility is tucked away in a large mountain pass, and the city of Nessunessa is on the most southern side. The Synal River is fed from a large glacier in the northern part of the mountains. Directly west of the range is the Veneficus Swamp. To the south is the Alda Forest.

Geography

The northern half of the mountain range are tall sheer peaks that are almost impossible to cross. The tallest of them have snow year-round. The southern portion are more gentle to climb, shorter than the northern half but still very tall. Nessunessa, a centaur settlement, is found in the lower, gentler hills of the south end of the mountains.

Fauna

Pterodactyl: With a wingspan of up to 40 feet, they are very powerful flyers. They live in small family groups that roost on the rocky craigs of the Synal Mountains. Domestication of them started after The Great War, and the Pteradactyl Training Facility is found here in the mountains.

Natural Resources

While no dwarves live here, it is a popular place for the dwarves to mine beautiful marble and quartz.
