Straight of Cassus
A part of the Northern Ocean that juts into the Tundra of Cassus. This is the only place where the North Sea Merfolk communicate with those on land.
Geography
The strait is very deep all the way to the farthest point inland, allowing large trading ships to approach close to land. This is one of the features that allow Etzak to be the prosperous trading post that it is today.
Fauna & Flora
- Beluga: legend has it they were the ones who taught the norther merfolk how to sing.
- Orca: Have been known to attack merfolk.
- Humpback whales: Only in the sea during the winter when krill is the most abundant, occasionally hunted by humans and drow but loved by merfolk.
- Hippocampus: Coloration of belugas or humpback whale or solid blue coats, immensely thick fur for heat retention.
- Penguins
- Sleeper Sharks: called so because they are sluggish swimmers, but should not be underestimated, have been known to attack boats and merfolk.
- Fish
- Seal: popular food source.
