Sara Toricki is the daughter of Sandor am Toricki, the Lord High Constable of Imesse and the maternal uncle of the High King of Imesse, Max III. Sara is a 22-year-old Human and currently lives with her maternal grandparents at their small estate at Northridge.
Sara is a remarkably beautiful young woman and she has been sought as a particularly attractive bride for more than a dozen noble men. Her father, the Lord High Constable of Imesse, is painfully aware of how important and influential his daughter's hand could be in the political machinations of the Kingdoms. Just a few of the possible matches for marriage that have been proposed include the Crown Prince Mak am Maxalli of Lesser Imesse, Dydimus Argoni, the Prince Legatee of Fangort, Renard Dechateone, heir to the County of Dunmor in Aria, and it has even been suggested that she should be wed to her own cousin, Max III, High King of Imesse. The match her father is considering most seriously, however, is to the second son of the Duke of Hekmo, Terrin am Nari. The Duke is quite anxious to have this agreement finalized, but Sara's father has not made up his mind.
In the months immediately after her birth, Sara's mother, Esme Bimmin-Toricki, was found dead alongside her father in their bed. No inquest was made and the reason given for the sudden and unexpected tragedy was unexpected complications resulting from childbirth. Esme was buried less than two days after her body was discovered. In the months and years following the tragedy, rumors flew around the royal court that Esme's death was not the result of a difficult birth but of a bad marriage. Since that time, as Sara has grown into womanhood, she has heard these rumors and stories many times. She has seen her father's temper first hand and knows just how violent and abusive he can become when he is especially angry or frustrated. Sara has come to more than just suspect that there might be some truth to the rumors concerning her mother's death. Because of this and because she is quite disgusted with the propect of her being wed to the highest bidder in her father's eyes, Sara has taken up residence with her grandparents, the Lord Chamberlain of Northern Imesse and the Lady Tory at their home in Northridge.
