High King of Imesse

The supreme authority over the entire High Kingdom of Imesse. The High King is the ruling lord and ultimate judge of all political, economic, military and civil aspects of the governing and administration of the Kingdoms. The current High King is Max III, an 18-year-old Human that has reigned for five years, and ruled in his own right (without a Regent) for the last two years. The High King receives an oath of fealty from all other noble lords within the two Kingdoms of Imesse, including the King of Lesser Imesse. He receives taxes and a portion of nearly all revenues generated by the many political and civil divisions of the Kingdoms, and he has the (at least) nominal authority to appoint or remove any noble lord to/from any position of leadership, control or authority within the Kingdoms. The High King has direct rule and control of vast tracts of territory known collectively as the Royal Domains of Northern Imesse and maintains the revenues from these domains as his personal income, while also receiving revenue from the various layers of noble authority through taxes, fees and tolls. The High King has the authority to grant charters, titles, commissions, letters patent, and appointments, exclusively within the northern Kingdom, and (traditionally) with the agreement of the King of Lesser Imesse in the southern Kingdom. He can call for the raising of armies in times of military crisis, and has the authority to validate or cancel any agreements or treaties as he sees fit. The High King has an advisory council, known officially as the Privy Council of the High Kingdom, intended to offer advice, insight, opinion and information necessary for the efficient and timely administration of the Kingdoms as a whole. This council is comprised of leaders, appointees, experts and lords from across the High Kingdom and from a variety of roles, positions and duties.
