Orlan am Tabori
Lord Baron Orlan am Tabori
Orlan am Tabori was the Baron of Mull for nineteen years until his death in 215 AF. He was the father of the last Tabori Baron, his only son Milo am Tabori.
Orlan was, in his youth, a close friend of Turl am Nari. The two would often go on extended hunts all across the northern regions of the Kingdom, and Orlan was much in agreement with the future Duke of Hekmo regarding the threat to Imesse from the Colian heathens to the north. Tensions between Turl's father, Duke Torn am Nari, and Orlan's father, Baron Alfor am Tabori, made the friendship rather strained, however, at least until Duke Torn was killed in a tournament accident in 190 AF.
Orlan was gravely injured on a mastodon hunt with Turl in 181 AF, and was forced to convalesce at the ducal estate near Tobrick for nearly a year. He was very limited in his mobility after this injury, and as a result could not participate in the Second Northern War of 213 AF at all. Instead, he encouraged his son, Milo, to take up arms and follow the Duke to glory in the north, but Milo refused. When the war in the north went badly, Orlan did not relent in his insistence that Milo join the fight. In 215 AF, when the call for fresh levies was made for an invasion of Cobal, Orlan again insisted Milo take up arms and fight for the honor and prestige of the House Tabori. Milo continued to refuse, stating he would help raise the levies and would pay the taxes, but he would not fight the fight. Orlan is remembered as having raged day and night within Mull Castle, repeatedly calling his son craven to anyone that would listen.
On the 20th day of August 215 AF, just days before the invasion was planned to commence, Baron Orlan was found dead at the foot of a set of tall tower stairs that he had seemingly fallen down in the night. No explanation as to why the Baron had been up the tall tower in the middle of the night was ever found, nor was a reason for the excessive injuries to his face and head while the remainder of his person seemed unharmed. His son, Milo, was named Baron two days later by the King's Justiciar.

Personal history
Orlan is not fondly remembered by his peers or subjects, but it was not because of his official policies. As a matter of course, Orlan ruled the Barony of Mull with a degree of skill and foresight that is quite admirable. Taxes remained (relatively) low in an economy that was, at the end of his reign, rapidly spiraling out of control. His decisions as judge and justice were seen universally as fair and reasonable. His peers regarded him has eccentric and odd but found him a fair and honest partner in regional trade and business policies. High King Max II oft sought the counsel of the Baron in the years and months leading up to the Second Northern War due mainly to his calm and rational insight into the broader domestic and international situations.
Personality Characteristics
Vices & Personality flaws
Orlan's obsessive habit of beating his small and frail wife routinely was a secret understood by nearly everyone. The brutal treatment was almost certainly the impetus behind her suicide in 182 AF. It is not known whether or not Orlan beat his children, but the daughter, Millicent, certainly witnessed the abuse routinely, and it is thought that Orlan even raped his wife several times while the child watched from a corner. After his wife's tragic passing, Orlan's rage was often directed at his son, although it didn't seem to manifest physically. Orlan sometimes seemed incapable of speaking normally to the boy but instead screamed and cursed at him constantly. Demeaning names and belittling remarks were the norm while rational discourse was rarely ever heard between the two.
