Griff Jermin

Griff Jermin was the oldest son of Gill Jermin and the older brother of Hollis Jermin, the owner of the Jermin Hill Mine and much of the Town of Dunhill. He was the father of the Watch Captain of Dunhill, Clay Jermin.

As the oldest son, Griff was the heir to his father's lands and fortune, which included the silver mine, several profitable quarries and many properties and businesses within the County of Redstone. Less than a year before a chronic cough took the life of his father, Griff and his wife, Nora, were killed in a tragic fire that consumed their "country home" on the banks of the Dunwash River. Only their 6-year-old son, Clay, survived the fire.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Griff was a remarkably strong and fit man, having worked most of his young and adult life in the quarries and mines with his father.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Griff learned from his father that the only way to gain lasting prosperity and security was through hard and dedicated effort. His father, Gill Jermin, once told him that all the things Griff enjoyed most in life were the result and reward of having worked so hard to help his father and family succeed. Griff saw the wealth and influence that came to the Jermin family after the silver was discovered as a way of helping not only his immediate family, but the entire community that was growing up around Dunhill. While his father was busy being Sheriff of Redstone County, Griff took on more and more responsibility with the mine and other family businesses and saw that he was providing a means for many, many people to work and earn a fair living in otherwise troubled times.

Likes & Dislikes

Griff admired those willing and able to work hard to better themselves and their families. He had little time or patience for those that simply expected support or assistance without making any effort of their own.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Griff was a very popular member of the Jermin family and is remembered very fondly even today. He was considered the obvious choice to succeed his father as Sheriff of the County of Redstone when his father retired, and was expected by all to see the fortunes of the Jermin family holdings grow well into the future.

Family Ties

Griff was always very close to all his family, but in the years before his father's death he grew increasingly frustrated with the seemingly unreasonable expectations that his younger brother, Hollis, seemed to have regarding what would belong to Hollis at the passing of their father. Griff became quite vocal in his opinions regarding what Hollis should (or should not) expect in the event of Gill's death.
