Grande Ile
Grand Ile is a large inhabited island of the coast of Outremeer on the northern edge of the continent of Notios. It is 175 miles long (east to west) and 50 miles wide (north to south), or just slightly larger than the island of Puerto Rico. It has a Human population of just over 100,000 souls and boasts two large cities: Kappodhon and Kardomontys, both at around 25,000 souls. These residents are very nearly all native Harakaar people, with less than 100 immigrants from the lands of Thrae.
The island's name is rooted in the Arian tongue of its first foreign discoverers. Harakaar peoples know it as Tal Bakooh, or "outer island".
Geography
A large Human-populated island located some 90 miles off the coast of Outremeer. Low but rugged highlands rise in the island's center and end in tall, jagged cliffs along its northern shores, while the southern shores enjoy a gentler topography that lends itself well to farming and ranching. The bulk of the population lives within 20 miles of the southern coastline of the island.
Climate
Warm, subtropical to tropical temperatures make the weather on Grande Ile very close to similar sized Caribbean islands such as Puerto Rico. The northern coast is often buffeted with strong winds and waves that make maritime traffic along its shores particularly challenging. Strong seasonal storms, especially in the late summer, create gale force winds and huge waves that can ravage the island for days at a time.
