Canton of Cooley
The Canton of Cooley is a small area within the territory of the Dalbrok Clan inhabited by an active and prosperous community of Halflings. The Canton is located on the banks of the Cooley River, which empties into the Eastern Sea just four miles north of the Brokshold. In total, the Canton covers an area of just more than 16 square miles and has a population of 2,200 souls.
The area of the Canton of Cooley is a broad and fertile river valley with stony bluffs rising with the elevation as one moves away from the Cooley River. It is a largely agrarian community, with many farms, ranches and fishing interests located along both the north and south banks of the Cooley.
Demographics
Government
The Canton is administered directly by an appointed Teeshoch (sheriff in Colian ), the current Teeshoch being Braden Gwyndynen.
Defences
The Canton has a dedicated local militia known as the Guarda. It numbers about 75 highly motivated and surprisingly well trained Halfling men. The Guarda have adopted a training and weapon regimen very similar to the Cobal Rangers, it being brought to Cooley by a pair of retired Halfling Rangers from Rolar in the Kingdom of Cobal nearly 20 years ago.
Infrastructure
The Canton surrounds the Village of Cooley, and is crossed by two well laid roads that connect the coastal communities to the east with the interior regions of the territory to the west and south. These roads are used to transport grain, produce, meat, material and people from the higher and drier regions of the Owenfeld and the Boefelds where river and canal access is very limited.
