Cooley House

The Cooley House is a large inn and wagon shop located in the Canton of Cooley. It is owned and operated by Felix Ordinaly, a 118-year-old Gnome and his extended family. The Cooley House is a busy place, as it is located on one of the few established roads in the Dalbrok territory. It is a busy route for cattle, produce and grain trade from the interior to the coast.

Cooley House has 19 small but very comfortable rooms, an adequately sized common room where meals are taken and refreshments are served, a small but very well-appointed bathhouse, and a large and productive wagon shop where wagons, carts and trucks can be serviced, repaired or even rebuilt entirely. All aspects of the Cooley House operations are managed by the Ordinaly family, from cooking and cleaning to wagon repairs and stable operations.

Purpose / Function

A business offering food, drink, lodging, and stables with an associated wagon shop. The House caters to freight, livestock and grain haulers moving product from the interior of the territory to the coast, as well as general traffic and trade.

Design

The Cooley House is a warm and inviting structure with many windows (mostly round) looing out on an idyllic pastoral landscape along the north bank of the Cooley River. It is a complex of wings built around the central common room and kitchens, with the family's residence in one wing (off the main kitchen), the wing containing the rooms for let (on the other side of the common room) and the baths and wagon shop in separate structures close to the main building.

Sensory & Appearance

The House is immaculately clean and remarkably well-appointed for the region it is found in. The Canton of Cooley is not a particularly wealthy or prosperous area, and the small population means that many luxury items one might expect at ta finer inn are very hard to come by. However, the Ordinaly family had done an exceptional job making the Cooley House a very comfortable and homely house.

Denizens

Owned and operated by Felix Ordinaly, his wife and their many children and spouses. On any given night, the common room at the House can be full of travelers and locals enjoying food, drink, stories and singing.

Tourism

The Cooley House offers excellent food, even better beer and ale, a pleasant and comfortable place to rest, and an efficient and effective service for wagons and carts.
